“Frivolous shoes”

So my wonderful grandmother has given me £100 with strict instructions I am to spend it on “frivolous shoes” 🤣 she knows I love shoes and she knows I would never spend that on a pair of shoes for myself. She said I deserve something fun and impractical!

I’ve looked at Irregular Choice and there’s a couple of pairs I like but any other ideas where I can look?

What would you buy?!

I've got a real thing for quirky shoes. I love Irregular Choice, Orla Kiely did some gorgeous ones for Clarks. I ended up getting each design. Joe Browns are quite nice too, a girl at work has a lovely pair. They are quite reasonably priced too.
I just can't resist Irregular Choice. I've got soooo many pairs.

Ah thats lovely. I really like Ruby Shoo as an alternative to Irregular Choice - though the shoes are a bit cheaper, more around the £60 mark. I can't help with any thing flashier than that though sorry, I think that's probably the most I've ever spent on shoes.

foxtiger · 12/10/2020 18:34

I thought Ruby Shoo too. I've never had Irregular Choice but a fiend found them rather uncomfortable.

If your definition of "frivolous" doesn't necessarily mean they have to have impractical high heels, you could have a look at Fly too - they have some wonderful colours and unusual designs, but usually with a wedge, which I find really comfortable but maybe they're not quite as glam as you had in mind.

foxtiger · 12/10/2020 18:35

friend, not fiend - maybe I was subconsciously thinking of the phrase "fiendishly uncomfortable"!

Miss L Fire is good for frivolous treat shoes.

Frivolous is a very personal thing!
For example, these would be my frivolous buy.....

(No doubt the fashionistas of S&B will be burying their heads in their hands in horror! Grin

Oh wow, shoes! These are my favourite ‘frivolous’ shoes;

They might not appeal to everyone and are horrifically expensive, I always wait for their discounts/sales. Sadly, I occasionally just lovingly scroll the website when in need of some shoe porn.

They’re beautiful. I’m a huge fan.

Thanks for the replies! I guess frivolous for me is something I wouldn’t wear to work (I have a very practical job so it’s boots flats or trainers!) and are a bit quirky and fun. I think I will enjoy browsing and deciding as much as actually owning the shoes!!

@AuntMasha that is one lovely website. Beautiful shoes

AuntMasha
Those are amazing! I could buy 6 pairs straight off!

TazMac · 13/10/2020 14:05

I buy myself a pair of frivolous shoes now and again. I have some beautiful champagne sequinned sandals from office and some “casino” sandals from nine west - silver heels with diamanté across the front bar. They’ve both been worn to the occasions I get dressed up, weddings etc.

Bless your grandmother, that’s such a nice thing to do.
