Removing acrylic nails

Was a bridesmaid at a very small wedding recently. I NEVER get my nails done but bride paid for me and the other bridesmaid to have acrylics put on because she wanted us to be the same. I agreed. No bother. They're just nails. Didn't even think I'd have to get the buggers off! I don't have £25 to spend having them removed at my local nail salon, and am either working or have my toddler at home so don't really have time to do this. What's the best way for me to get them off one evening at home?

File the surface of them down, and then soak them in acetone for about 20 mins (nail wraps). It'll go soft and will scrape off. Then buff your nails, moisturise and add a cuticle oil if you have any!

Well good luck with that, they often have to be bevelled off with machinery or you'll be there all day.

It's honestly best to have them removed professionally

I had acrylics done for my wedding, but I really didn't like them so I took them off whilst on our camping honeymoon!

I got some acetone nail remover, cotton balls and foil. Soak the cotton and place on nails. Wrap finger tips and cotton firmly in foil. Lay back and do relaxing activity of choice for 20 minutes. Take off foil and cotton, scrape off what has gone soft, rinse and repeat.

No chance I'm paying to have them taken off! I'd rather let them grow out and have ugly nails for a few months! Grin

Cut them down as short as you can so there’s as little acrylic as possible to remove.
Then soak a cotton pad in pure acetone (you can buy it for a few pounds in any chemist) and put one on each nail and then cover each cotton pad covered nail in tightly wrapped foil.

You then need to wait 30 mins, take each one off and file off as much as possible and then repeat.

It takes a while but totally possible during an evening watching tv. Under no circumstances try to pull them off!!
