Signet ring - which finger?

I’ve found a lovely signet ring that I’d like to have customised as a piece in memory of a late relation.

I think I’m right in thinking that signet rings are traditionally worn on the little finger of the left hand, but I don’t think it would sit well alongside my engagement and wedding rings. I’m thinking of having it made for either my index finger or little finger on my right hand. Any thoughts on which might be best? Think I’m leaning towards little finger but can’t decide.

I always thought it was traditionally ring finger right hand.
I'd go for index over little finger though. I hate the little finger ring look.

Ring finger on my right hand isn’t an option as I already have a ring there.

@AriettyHomily - oh dear! 😬 “Wanky and pretentious” really isn’t the look I’m aspiring to... and the relation for who the ring will mark the memory of was anything but that description! The idea that I might be (hopefully mis-)construed as that really puts me off the idea. 😔 Could I wear a signet ring on my middle finger? You’re making me think that perhaps I should just find an alternative style.

Senior wealthy chaps in the military all seem to wear them on little finger of left hand. Family crests or initials on.

Wearing a signet ring on your index finger would look wrong, IME. But little finger right hand would probably be ok. Where do posh women wear them when they’ve got married? Still next to their wedding rings?

I wear my Dads wedding ring (signet) on the middle finger of my left hand... looked a bit odd to start with possibly but it's a large sized ring and I didn't want it on my right.

Is it the same metal as your other rings? That makes a difference, imo...

How on earth can wearing a signet ring on your little finger be "wanky and pretentious" 😮. What a ridiculous thing to say. ( from an apparently wanky and pretentious signet ring wearer...)

I would definitely go for left hand
I’m not a fan of index finger rings personally
So I would go for little finger or middle finger (as you say you already have rings on 3rd finger)
I occasionally wear my Grandads signet ring on middle finger left but only because it’s a good fit - it would work as well on little finger
As an aside it brings back happy memories of being a child and playing a party game with a ring on a string - bit like pass the parcel and Grandad used to use his ring!

I think it will look nice on Index finger- I think that looks cool

@SanFranBear - my engagement and wedding rings are platinum and the ring I wear on my right ring finger is silver. The signet ring is silver.

Thanks @JaceLancs - As signet ring is silver and wedding/engagement rings are platinum, I can’t wear the two metals alongside each other... really nice to hear that wearing your Grandad’s ring brings back happy memories.
