Foundation sinking into pores.

Whenever I apply foundation, it looks awful as it sinks into my pores. I currently use benefit porefessional primer, huda beauty foundation, too face born this way concealer, and powder. Any advice? This isn't my skin in the picture but it looks like that

Also, in terms of skincare, I use a simple face wash followed by simple moisturiser.

Use a primer?

Ellewoods20 · 11/10/2020 17:43

icklekid I do use a primer. As mentioned in the op, I'm currently using benefit porefessional primer

Looks like your skin is dehydrated. If mine isn't properly hydrated then mine would look like yours with foundation on.

Ellewoods20 · 11/10/2020 17:53

@BoulangerieBabs how do I solve that?

The first place to start with make up is actually your skin care. What does that routine look like?

applepineapple · 11/10/2020 17:55

Try a Hyaluronic acid serum or a heavier moisturiser

BuffaloCauliflower · 11/10/2020 17:55

And what are you using to apply your products?

You start by looking at your skincare routine. It doesn't need to be fancy.

Skincare at the minute is simple face wash followed by simple moisturiser in the morning. At night, the same face wash and moisturiser and sometimes a face mask.

I would say nail down your skincare and hydration first and see where that takes you.
I'd recommend cleansing , toning and moisturisering both morning and evening. Do you exfoliate ? That's quite a big one to make sure there's not a build up of dead skin on the face. I exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Then I use a face mask once or twice a week. The only serum I use is The Ordinarys hylauronic acid.

Have you tried a different foundation? It could be that foundation isn't suited to your skin type. Also, I use a beauty sponge to apply my foundation.

Ellewoods20 · 11/10/2020 18:28

@ExplodingCarrots I exfoliate occasionally. I think it definitely has to be my skincare as I've used so many different foundations and primers. I apply foundation with a beauty blender. Does anyone know if the neutrogena hydro boost range is any good?

I used to have a similar problem and tried all sorts.
What works for me is exfoliating weekly with Clinique 7 day scrub. Moisturise with Clinique dramatically different moisturiser.
Apply Mac prep + prime, then apply Mac face & body foundation with my fingers building it up in layers.
For me it's definitely something to do with the makeup/application that's solved the problem. Possibly switching to using fingers instead of a sponge.
