Moisturiser for 40s skin

I'm looking for a decent moisturiser for 40s skin. At the moment I have BodyShop Vit E moisturiser and just find it too light.

Do you mean for face or body? Face needs an SPF I've been using a Simple one lately and I like it.

Ponks · 11/10/2020 13:27

I always recommend Boots No7 Protect and Perfect intense day moisturiser, I love it.

ItsTooGoodYouKnow · 11/10/2020 13:28

@MrsVeryTired - oh yes I mean for face. Which Simple one are you using?

I like Eucerin Hyaluron day cream - not too heavy, has spf and it makes my 44yr old skin feel perked up.

I've just bought Curel from Boots.
It's lovely. I have quite dry skin but it's very hydrating yet light. I use this one for daytime.
Night tme I use Trilogy Rosehip night cream. It quite rich but my skin loves it.

MrsVeryTired · 11/10/2020 16:06

I love the Boots Expert skincare (sensitive) one but only get it in some Boots stores. The Simple one is called Protecting Light Moisturiser, it's a cheapy but not tested on animals, has SPF and seems nice.

MrsVeryTired · 11/10/2020 16:09

My skin is very "normal" not dry, not oily and I don't really wear make-up so no harsh cleansing, the moisturisers I use might be a bit light for some.

feathermucker · 11/10/2020 16:12

Aldi Lacura night cream £1.45 or the Caviar version for £6.99

CyberPixie · 11/10/2020 16:14

I use two drops of tisserand jojoba oil rubbed between fingers and pat on to slightly damp face, then aveeno cream over the top. My face has never looked so good. Tried so many things over the years but none of it came close to using the above. Has even done wonders for my rosacea.

I do get rough, dry skin on cheeks but with oily nose and forehead. Plus redness and rosacea pustules at times. The jojoba oil has sorted out the lot.

Northernsoullover · 11/10/2020 16:18

I'm using Aveeno. My skin feels youthful.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 11/10/2020 16:37

I like to use different moisturisers as my mood suits. One I go back to all the time is the clarins day one. Ultra firming I think it’s called come in a peach coloured jar.
Other ones j like are the marks and Spencer’s pure day cream with spf, kiehls ultra cream, Charlotte tilbury magic cream, and if I can only get to a supermarket the Waitrose pure creams are fab.

Hated Elemis, left a horrible texture on my skin and smelt very old fashioned.

nibdedibble · 11/10/2020 16:39

I can’t use anything with fragrance and I find Liz Earle fragrance free the best

Yes, I’m liking the eucerin, too.
Figroll16 · 11/10/2020 21:23

Have you tried the Vit E cream for dry skin? I have quite dehydrated skin (I'm in 40s) and find this thick enough.

ItsTooGoodYouKnow · 13/10/2020 16:52

@Figroll16 which brand is the Vit E cream for dry skin?

OP posts:
Deathraystare · 13/10/2020 17:04

I wonder if it is the Superdrug Vitamin E one? They have a whole range of Vitamin E.

Deathraystare · 13/10/2020 17:05

It is very good (re: Vit E Range!)

Figroll16 · 13/10/2020 17:24

It's the body shop one OP

ItsTooGoodYouKnow · 13/10/2020 22:12

@CyberPixie I like the sound of that. Where do you buy that particular brand of jojoba oil? and which Aveeno cream do you use?

CyberPixie · 13/10/2020 22:17

@itstoogoodyouknow

Amazon sells it. Just the normal aveeno cream, beige bottle. Not the lotion though, that seems to make my skin worse.

I also wash my face with aveeno moisturising bar.

CyberPixie · 13/10/2020 22:22

@itstoogoodyouknow just to clarify, it's aveeno moisturising cream. Beige bottle, green label. I usually buy the big pump bottle.
