Kids' Perfume?

My DD turns 8 in a couple of weeks and has recently discovered she loves perfume! I'd like to get her a bottle for her birthday, but obviously something light and fresh rather than dark and sultry 😂. I've looked for kids' fragrances but it's all Frozen etc and she's not in to Disney, and I'm sure it's probably horribly synthetic smelling. Giving that we will have to smell her too, I'd like something quite nice!

She's been loving my Vera Wang by Vera Wang, if that helps?!

My 10 year old likes Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger. She likes the fancy bottles of the Arianda Grande perfumes but they are a bit sticky sweet smelling in my opinion. She does also have a Katy Perry perfume that the bottle is the shape of a cat.

Cheaper options would be things like the So.... range or the Charlie range. Places like body care and savers do knock off versions of really expensive perfumes that would be fine for that age range - they don’t last as long as the real stuff so you need to spray more. Children do tend to overspray perfume so it works out well. Primark does some ok smelling perfumes too. Maybe a little sweet for my liking but I know teens and pre teens generally like sweeter smelling fragrances.

Next has some light fragrances for girls.

IntentIntel · 11/10/2020 12:58

Yes, Next do them in a 'bit bigger than a lipstick' size, for about £3.00, they smell nice & light.

DD wanted one & has used it once, of course Hmm

NeutralJanet · 11/10/2020 13:04

Britney Spears Curious is a nice light fragrance.

DKNY Be Delicious

Primark do some decent dupes as little roll ons that are nice. The one in the black and gold spotty bottle is a copy of daisy and is dneices favourite.

Zara do perfumes for girls (and women) m.zara.com/uk/en/kids-girl-accessories-perfumes-l335.html?v1=1538317#offset=89.70001220703125&productId=52890507

Marc jacobs oh so fresh? Quite expensive though!

queenofarles · 11/10/2020 14:52

Bonpoint , have been using it for years on my Dds.
The smell is gorgeous.
Another fresh smelling scent is Minois, I’ve seen it in liberty.

Bulgari make a lovely one that smells like Parma violets

Jacadi kids smells of lemons

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 11/10/2020 14:56

DD2 likes perfume. We buy the little Jo Malone knock-offs from Primark which smell great. They don't last, but IME neither does Jo Malone.
M&S also had some nice unbranded perfume when I was in there the other day - this was one but there were maybe four or five in the same range.

Or if it must be a "proper" scent, DD1 saved up to by Marc Jacobs Daisy in duty-free, and it's quite a sweet floral that seems young and fresh.

Bunnymumy · 11/10/2020 14:57

Juicey couture do nice light eau de toilets.
Bye bye blues for example, it's a nice light fruity scent.

Bvlgari Petits et Mamans is amazing. It does smell like sweets and is gentle for young skin. I love it.

Versace have a tweenage/teenage range that come in fun tins for about £15. I like the Baby Rose Jeans version.

cultkid · 11/10/2020 15:11

@orangenasturtium

Yes it's so lovely isn't it
I wore it and so did my son when he was born. It's our smell.
Brings back all the memories.

Cute little bottle too!

frustrationcentral · 11/10/2020 15:14

Superdrug body sprays are good, dupes for other brands and I believe they've brought out other items in the range too - bubble bath, bath bombs etc

Therollockingrogue · 11/10/2020 15:17

Guerlain do some lovely young fragrances

orangenasturtium · 11/10/2020 15:49

I used to "borrow" my son's when he was a toddler @cultkid! Grin

Now we both share the same taste in Acqua di Parma Colonia. I do sometimes think about buying the Bvlgari fragrance just for me though

orangenasturtium · 11/10/2020 15:57

Just to clarify, I usually avoid wearing Acqua di Parma when I go out with my (adult) DS, we don't have some weird matchy matchy mother and son fragrance thing going on, we just have similar taste! Grin

cultkid · 11/10/2020 16:03

She may also like Hermes rhubarb if she likes fruity

cultkid · 11/10/2020 16:03

@orangenasturtium I often wear the same perfume as my husband we wear quite a lot of unisex stuff

teta · 11/10/2020 16:05

The Body Shop is pretty good for young perfumes. Lots of fresh fruity or floral ones in little bottles.
