Raincoat for fat bum

nodogz · 08/10/2020 14:34

I need a raincoat but I have real trouble finding one which fits over my bum. I have massive shoulders so if I get one which fits the bottom half, I look awful and huge on the top half.

I'm an hourglass 16 and look really nice in normal coats, especially if they're belted. And perfectly fine in other clothes - but outdoor wear makes me look terrible (does anyone look nice in walking trousers, they don't work with my thick thighs and small waist) Proportionally, everything is fine and I go in at the middle and out at my shoulders and hips. I've got nice long limbs and I'm average height at 5'7. In theory, a nice coat, boots and hat should be one of my best outfits!

I'm quite happy to buy a bigger size as long as it's not ginormous on the top. Sadly, trying on bigger sizes just leaves me looking like a satsuma on legs - and I'm vain enough to think I'd rather just be wet and cold. I was thinking about buying a wax jacket stockman coat as these look quite loose at the bottom or like a long parka style. Budget to £100. Edgy or classic over mumsy.

Any ideas? Or suggestions for brands which suit fat bottomed girls?

Look at Rains Curve

How about a swing style raincoat?

This sort of thing?

Sorry but hell no to that parka - it would drown me and make me look so frumpy and massive. It says swing but I don't think that would swing on me.

Maybe those raincoats could work (I like the style/shape) but they don't look very waterproof or warm.

I'm just after normal sports or outdoor wear that can fit over a bigger bum (I like to squat) but not swamp me. All other clothes fit me fine apart from walking gear Smile

The Rains coats are waterproof but are not warm. Seasalt have some A line coats and there's also Protected Species

I've had a couple from happy rainy days - they do some in a belted trench style so quite "normal coat" look, but waterproof. They also do some with hidden drawcords at the waist - these help a lot. happyrainydays.com/gb/catalogsearch/advanced/result/?name=&description=&short_description=&sku=&price%5Bfrom%5D=&price%5Bto%5D=&hrd_gender=&hrd_details%5B%5D=40&hrd_details%5B%5D=45&hrd_sleeve_lining= these ones have waist cords, and there's tonnes with belts

I’ve got a Stutterheim Mosebacke which has ample arse coverage and looks cool. You’ll need to find one in the sale and wear a jumper underneath though. It’s a rain coat not a winter coat by itself. But it keeps me entirely dry.
