Which brand for 40 year old makeup

HaggisMuncher · 08/10/2020 09:03

realised I've been using the same makeup since my teens and it's probably time to switch it up having recently turned 40...
I've been gifted some vouchers from our local department store which stocks:
Chanel, Dior, Bobbi Brown, YSL, Sisley (Browns York), Estee Lauder, Clarins, Benefit, Clinique, Elizabeth Arden

Which would be best for a relatively low maintenance 40 year old?

Any advice gratefully received!

It really depends on your skin type, what sort of coverage you want and what sort of look you fancy.

Is there any slebs you fancy recreating the looks of? If you were to liken yourself to someone well known that has the same tone of skin as you etc.

My DM gets Bobbi Brown foundation and I always pinch it when I visit. I also like her Dior eye shadow.

My faves are:

Clarins detox fluid bb cream
Laura mercier illuminating primer
Laura mercier translucent powder
Estée Lauder sumptuous extreme mascara
Bobbi brown cream shadow sticks

If what you have works, why switch?
Bear in mind that often the luxury brands mean that you are paying for fancy packaging.

Having said that, I like Clarins and Lancome, EL for concealer, and used to love Helena Rubenstein make-up.

I love Bobbi Brown. I'm in my 40s. I think it's good quality and it lasts for ages. (And also I love the packaging!)

It's not about age- it's about your skin. Some women of 40 have the skin of a 30 yr old, others look more like 60!(if they smoke and worship the sun.)

I like B Brown foundation as they are the only brand that does a shade for my pale and neutral skin tone. (Clinique used to but phased the right one out.) I use their Skin Foundation and Stick Foundation. I also like their matte eyeshadows but I had a lovely Dior palette but was it worth £45? Not sure :)

I like Nars blusher, Lancome mascara and B Brown and Clinique lipsticks.

I’m in my 40s and love Bobbi Brown. Particularly for blusher, lipstick and eye colours. That said I mix with other brands, I have Aldi concealer for example.
