Dinner in a posh hotel

My wardrobe basically involves smart work clothes, jeans and sports kit and one or two party dresses. My usual out to dinner outfit is, I'm afraid, jeans and a nice top. I can't be doing with anything that's uncomfortable, especially shoes.

A couple of nights in a really smart hotel with an award winning (famous) restaurant. What does one wear to dinner?

Also even if DH and I dress up a bit, will teenage boys need to?

Can you say what hotel it is? Or if not, a bit more info... Is it in the UK? City or rural?

I’ve been lucky enough to stay in lots of high end hotels and what people have worn for dinner or elsewhere in the hotel has varied a lot!

Sometimes if I’m not sure what to wear I check out the social media for the place - to see what other guests are wearing.
