Tights with a red dress

What colour tights would you wear with a red dress? Black tights are my usual go to but it's quite a bold red and just looks wrong.

Please tell me I don't have to wait for summer to wear it

What about navy?

Can't you just wear natural tights? Or do you want really thick ones? In which case we need to see the dress and the fabric to advise on colours.

I think it also depends on footwear type and colour.
