I got absolutely soaked today in the rain watching my child play sports today. Any recommendations for an appropriate and stylish coat. I'm thinking North face or similar.

When DS2 started playing rugby and I had double time standing around on the touchline I bought a Seasalt Janelle in black. I make no claims as to its style credentials but it's pretty sleek, will keep you perfectly warm and dry, has massive pockets, the dipped hem in the back means you don't get mud up the back of your legs, and the hood won't blow off your head in the wind because it has toggles on the sides. Haven't regretted it for a minute. I've had at least three other rugby mums ask me where I got it because they're wet from mid-thigh where their stylish jackets end to the tops of their wellies!

Seasalt Janelle all the way. 👌👌

Didrikson- I have one that I bought about 6 years ago when DS played rugby. It still sees me through a winter residential week in a wood, playground duties and Christmas fairs/ carols around the tree/ New Year’s Day walks. Windproof, waterproof and warm.

Also seasalt Janelle. Or a uniqlo parka.

North Face Arctic Parka
Waterproof and Windproof.

Craghoppers Mhairi is not the most elegant coat but it feels like wearing a duvet and goes down to my knees, and has a proper hood and big pockets.

I've got a landsend shin length down coat - like wearing a waterproof duvet.

Seasalt Janelle. Best coat ever for standing around in all weathers. Make sure you get some warm boots or wellies with lots of room to wear thick or several pairs of socks.

Seasalt Janelle.

I'm into layers. An Arc'teryx coat goes a long way, lasts years, and is waterproof and wind proof. I don't own another coat anymore. Wait until they're in the sale though, even at 50% off they're pricey.

A non-coat tip as well - put real sheepskin insoles in your wellies. It stops the cold rising up through the soles when you're standing still for a long time.
