I tried calculators and got different answers from bell to cello to pear to H to spoon.

Shoulders 45in
Waist 37in, very short
Hips 50in
Wear size 18uk, 42DD bra.

I don't have the flat stomach or small boobs of a pear. I have good calves and ankles but big thighs with saddle bags. I have chunky arms but slender forearms. My shoulders are strong looking not sloping.

Sorry, no full length mirror or anyone to take proper full photo available.

I think you might be an hourglass. Forget the circumference, your shoulders will be more of a squashed oval than your hips. When you look in a mirror are they as wide as your hips?
The more pertinent Q is why are you asking? Is it to work out what suits you? I’m a smaller version (in terms of clothes size) of your body shape and I would describe my limbs etc in exactly the same way as you have described yours and this influences how I dress quite a bit.

Yes! Hourglass.
I am one too. Totally different measurements and body type.
I am 37 27 37 with a small frame.
It’s the hip / bust measurement.
Your waist is very small in comparison to your hips : bust!

NutsAboutYou · 03/10/2020 20:16

Sorry i forgot to add the bust! 🙄
It's 48in. My waist is usually well hidden .. i have a short torso conparative to my legs and am short overall ..I thinj I look more straight/big allover in clothes because I don't wear tight or fitted tops.. live in tunics, cardis or wide and boxy shirts. I'm self conscious about my stomach and that's why I tend to wear loose baggy mid thigh length tops.
Yes i wanted to know to help me dress better and choose clothes online.. it's getting expensive paying upfront to effectively try on clothes at home as i end up returning 90% of what i order and then waiting for ages to be refunded.
I've sorted my 'colouring/season' it's knowing what cuts suit me best.
My shoulders are a little narrower than my hips.

All i can say ladies is. Watch out, time, and menopause will rob you of that waist if you are not careful

withlotsoflove · 04/10/2020 03:05

@Thesuzie - it ain’t taking mine!
I’m working out to prevent it! 🤣
It’s not inevitable- plus my Mum did nothing and still has a waistline!

NutsAboutYou · 04/10/2020 06:06

Thanks Misery that link is very good.
Yeah Thesuzie i'm on it. Gained 2st in the lockdown months which didn't help confidence or health!

You’re probably an overweight hourglass.

Insulin resistance is complicit in a woman’s waist disappearing during menopause. So a low carb diet coupled with weight bearing exercise is your friend here.

Hourglasses need clothes that nip in at the waist. Try flared skirts with a fitted long-sleeved top tucked in. I’m roughly 40-30-40 and that’s my best look. For jeans and trousers, looser slouchier fits are best, not skinnies. You want something that skims your thighs but wear them with a fitted top so that you don’t look huge all over. I don’t know about you but I have thunder thighs and slim calves and ankles, so skinnies or leggings look horrendous on me. My favourite jeans at the moment are looser slouchy mom jeans that show off my ankles but don’t cling to my thighs and knees.
