Eloping next month and I have no outfit...

I am eloping next month, just in a town hall with my dp. I need an outfit to wear, I don’t want to wear a dress or anything involving a skirt. I was wondering would a nice blazer, top and trousers be ok? Something from Reiss or similar for a more smart casual look? What about shoes? I have no idea. I usually wear floaty shirts from religion and black jeans and chelsea boots if I’m going out anywhere. I never wear colour, mainly black and greys. I’m 30, 5ft 2 and currently a size 12-14. Please help!

Sorry, me again...and loads of designer reductions on here...

Thanks for the links. I worry that I am too short at 5ft 2 to wear a jumpsuit. I usually tend to stick to a two piece due to being short and top heavy, as I find dresses and jumpsuits don’t work on me, usually too long on the bottom and too tight on the chest area. Do you think I can make a blazer and trousers with a nice top look the part?

What about a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood dress or something from All Saints - both in a Religion vibe?

Yukka · 03/10/2020 14:58

I'm 5.3 and the same size I risked a jumpsuit and it's the most flattering thing I have ever worn. Could be worth trying can always default to blazer and pants..

bluebluezoo · 03/10/2020 15:00

Where are you eloping to? Presumably not abroad? Will the weather be different? Gretna Green will probably rain 😂, but you could be drier on the east coast...

I’d wear what you feel comfortable in...

Yukka · 03/10/2020 15:01
This is gorgeous - v neck makes your bust smaller, high waited makes you look slimmer and taller. Might buy it myself :)

I was witness at a lovely wedding last year. Bride wore smart navy jacket and trousers, can't remember colour or her top, but possibly red. And black ankle boots with small heel. The groom was just in a normal suit.
You really don't need to fret about it - wear what you feel comfortable in.

IndieTara · 03/10/2020 15:26

How about a tuxedo style trouser suit ?

Feedingthebirds1 · 03/10/2020 15:52

I'm shorter than you and also don't do dresses and skirts. My go to for 'occasions' is palazzo or other wide legged pants.

On your colour scheme I'd choose

Pants www.very.co.uk/river-island-pleat-detail-wide-leg-trouser-grey/1600510872.prd

Top www.very.co.uk/quiz-bubble-crepe-tie-sleeve-necklace-top-black/1600507351.prd

or maybe www.very.co.uk/v-by-very-asymmetric-frill-blouse-ivory/1600491148.prd - in white if you want to be bridal, or it's available in black too

with www.very.co.uk/v-by-very-plain-tassel-lightweight-knitnbspwrap-grey/1600474684.prd for warmth.

and with these shoes www.marksandspencer.com/pointed-court-shoes/p/clp60472537?color=BLACK

Thanks for the options. I am not sure if I’d have the confidence to pull off a jumpsuit, as I’ve never worn one before.

Here’s some of the stuff I was looking at earlier.

I was thinking to go for a top like this www.coastfashion.com/short-sleeved-scallop-neck-body-%09/ACC98182-5.html?color=572
and pair it with black trousers and a blazer?

Or this dress
www.reiss.com/p/metallic-high-neck-mini-dress-womens-isla-in-black-metallic/?category_id=1121&gaEeList=W%20-%20Dresses

And pair it with tights and heels, some fine jewellery. What do you think?

Yes love both that top and the dress - you will look gorgeous in either I'm sure so go with yout gut feeling.

Ohgoodness34 · 03/10/2020 16:39

Absolutely love that Reiss dress! Go for it!!

Feckmesideways · 03/10/2020 16:41

Oh or there is this jump suit which looks nice and simple but I am not sure I’d be able to fit my chest area into it properly without going up an extra size which might make the lower bit baggy, it’s a good price though!

I love the Reiss dress

ForthPlace · 03/10/2020 16:56

Just shows how different we all are...I would feel more self conscious in the Reiss dress than a jumpsuit. Love the dress though.

Bravissimo cater for the more curvy top half, I often get dresses from there.
They do jumpsuits too which would cater for your shape.

Something like this:

www.bravissimo.com/products/sienna-jumpsuit-pd790/#wine-pd790wne

Or perhaps the black one with the mesh inserts.

Even if you don't get married in one...you said you don't like dresses...jumpsuits are fab! - have a try. 😊

60sPony · 03/10/2020 16:57

If you like a slightly “rocky” look have you looked at The Kooples or Zadig & Voltaire?

IWouldLikeToKnow · 03/10/2020 17:39

That Coast top you linked to is fab. Would look great with a tuxedo style suit. And would be great for a wedding. Would you brave a cream colour suit?

averythinline · 03/10/2020 18:38

I'm not sure that coast top would work with boobs you would have to try it and I think a black trousers and blazer would look a bit 80's corporate suit ...could you wear a leather jacket instead??

The dress is good ..maybe get it and try it on if you don't usually wear dresses..

The velvet jumpsuit could be really flattering and not too far from trousers/top
