Lisa Eldridge makeup collection thread

EastonSarah · 02/10/2020 21:53

Her 2020 launch is October 3rd, 3pm:
www.lisaeldridge.com

Is anyone buying anything?
I like the look of Carnaval lipstick, Myth lipgloss and Ribbon lipgloss

I really liked the Love of My Life lipstick in the past, a beautiful and smooth formula

Love of my life fan here too. It’s currently my holy grail lipstick

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/10/2020 00:49

I have Velvet Ribbon and Velvet Morning, love them both. Don’t fancy any of the others though.

BabyPigeon · 03/10/2020 08:12

I am interested in the velvet blush fantasy floral kit. I'm also tempted to try the glosses, they seem more suitable for cold winter weather. All the products seem nice and it's very hard to choose.
I wish she restocked rainbow spill but I expect it will make a comeback next spring.

botemp · 03/10/2020 09:10

I'm thinking one of the lip kits in Ribbon and two additional glosses but I'll decide after seeing them on the promo video, most of that is actually replacing stuff that's just run out or about to so it's not that crazy, or so I tell myself.

Additionally I'd like one of the pinks that are not from the velvet collection, I remember there were originally three and one had a difficult formula that left some disappointed, does anyone know which one that was, is it the rainbow spill you mentioned by any chance @BabyPigeon

EastonSarah · 03/10/2020 10:42

Non velvet formulas @botemp :
Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colour.
Smooth, buildable coverage from semi-sheer to semi-opaque
Go Lightly (salmon pink) and Love of my Life (true rose)

Insanely Saturated Lip Colour
Intense pigment, luminous matte

Rainbow Spill (warm toned, medium dark coral)
Skyscraper Rose (cool toned medium dark berry)

botemp · 03/10/2020 10:47

Thanks Sarah, I'm aware which are the pink ones. I just remember some were really disappointed with the formula of one (but I can't remember which one) and the colour of another (Go Lightly). I'd like skyscraper rose but not if it's a crap formula. I saw Temptalia now has swatches up for the new collection here.

BabyPigeon · 03/10/2020 10:52

@botemp EastonSarah beat be to it. 🙂
I wanted to get rainbow spill as a gift. I guess I will have to make it a mother's day gift now, as it does not look like it's comming back this year.
The insanely saturated ones are really super pigmented and very light on the lips. They wear well as well.
My dissapointment was go lightly, I found it settled into lip lines. I think it's the lighter colour. Looking at the pictures of the go lightly gloss, I think it would be pretty much the same so I will skip it this time.

BabyPigeon · 03/10/2020 10:55

@botemp I think the new velvet carnival is very similar to the skyscraper rose, but in a velvet formula.

botemp · 03/10/2020 11:10

Carnaval isn't as bright, feels slightly lighter and I think I'd prefer the finish of SR but I've read now that it can go a bit patchy so I'm on the fence. I had contemplated the go lightly gloss too but my lips are quite uniform in colour and on the darker side so I don't think it would even show up. Still debating the skyscraper rose, one lip kit and down to one gloss now.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 03/10/2020 12:10

I think I'm going to give the new shades a miss.

I have Velvet Fawn, Go Lightly, Love of My Life, Skyscraper Rose and Rainbow Spill - and I really like them all. Go Lightly is a bit meh IMO - patchy and just not as good as the others.

I like Affair, but I have a lot of nude lipsticks and I have a feeling it will make my teeth look yellow.

I have a lot of colours similar to Carnival, and I don't tend to wear that colour during autumn and winter.

Dragon is really nice, but again, I have a feeling it will make my teeth look yellow.

Blush is beautiful, but I feel like I have a lot of lipsticks similar to it already.

Of the old ones, I could be tempted by Velvet Beauty, but I have a dupe of it already and don't really reach for it, so I would only buy it for the sake of buying something - and that's a bit pointless.

I don't wear gloss, and I have enough pencils to last me a lifetime.

I was quite excited about the new lipsticks, but the colours just aren't for me, I think. I might change my mind though.

EastonSarah · 03/10/2020 12:11

The Skyscraper Rose was fine for me, especially with either pencil underneath or a tiny slick of gloss or something on top. The Rainbow Spill was the one that didn't quite work according to my cousin and a friend (I bought them one each).

Ohhh, exciting.

I have Velvet Ribbon and it is just such a gorgeous decadent lipstick. It's such a gorgeous colour, just like Ruby Woo but without the feeling that you are rubbing actual clay onto your lips Grin

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 03/10/2020 12:21

What I like about Lisa Eldridge as well is that you feel like she really does care about producing top quality make up. No way would she just put out any old shit and hope that the name alone brings in the sales.

I would love for her to bring out some eyeshadows as well.

I am disappointed that Rainbow Spill seems to have been discontinued actually, that would have probably been next on my list as I have a bit more cash at the moment.

New video for the launch

FlyingByTheSeatof · 03/10/2020 15:10

I bought loads before lockdown but haven't really worn them much tbh. Which is great so they'll last a while x

You convinced me to buy the Velvet Ribbon lipstick. I also bought the Velvet Ribbon lip gloss and the Myth lip gloss. I got a free choice of bag too, I picked the blue velvet one.

I thought the launch was at 3pm and not 4pm, it gave me enough time to watch the full video though!

I got what I wanted, the velvet ribbon lip kit set (usually I'm uninterested in the freebies but I loved the pouch that comes with that). Also got the Blush lip gloss as it looks very similar to a beloved Kevyn Aucoin lip gloss that's now discontinued and at it's very end. I decided to pass on skyscraper rose for now, I'll see if I'm really wowed by what arrives and put another order in then as I know in previous years where I took forever to decide (because I was only ever interested in one or two items and they just didn't make sense with the shipping as I'm not in the UK and it was a lot higher than it is now) and I checked in a couple of times and things still seemed to be in stock weeks after everyone got their pre-order, just not the highly covetable limited editions/sets.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 03/10/2020 17:47

@EastonSarah You won't regret getting Velvet Ribbon! The other thing I love about it is that it's versatile, you can put it on really sheerly mixed with lip balm and it's a lovely sheer sort of pink, or you can ramp it up to a proper red. I also sometimes put it on my cheeks. It's lush!

Does anyone have Velvet Muse? I am tempted but I'm worried it looks a bit brown? The last time I dabbled with a 'pinky nude' was when I bought Huda Bombshell and that came out as a straight up poo brown on me! Grin

BabyPigeon · 03/10/2020 18:14

I have Velvet Muse and on me it's definitely a pinky nude, but my lips are not very pigmented, they are light pink.

EastonSarah · 21/10/2020 17:27

I received my order today and the Myth lip gloss is beautiful (I didn't try the other two products in my order), great formula and colour.

I received mine yesterday, really surprised as I'm in Europe and figured Friday at the very earliest. The limited edition pouch from the lipkit is absolutely beautiful, really pleased I spent extra for that. Velvet ribbon is very flattering but if I use everything in the set it's a bit too much. Lip liner is very nice as well, really been designed to do the whole lip without dragging rather than just lining. I find it a bit flat alongside the matching lipstick though, will probably use it with other reds I own instead and use something a little darker for dimension with the lipstick, good if you want to overline though (I look ridiculous when doing that).

The glosses are really nice on the lips too, not sticky in the way a traditional gloss is (still tacky though). I got Blush (and Ribbon from the kit) it's a bit darker than I anticipated but it's exactly a your lips but better tone for me which I was hoping for.

I'm less with the enthusiasm for the velvet formula, as in, I'm not falling over myself for it the way some seem to do. It's comfortable and stays put but it's not wildly different from other formulas I own, most similar to Shu Uemura ones I have which are slightly smoother.

PersonaNonGarter · 21/10/2020 22:23

Oh no now thanks to this thread I have gone and bought a new lipstick Grin

Velvet Blush on its way. I was sorry to miss out on Velvet Affair and Dragon - both sold out.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 21/10/2020 22:33

I bought Velvet Muse during the pre-order and got it today. I haven't tried it on yet, but it looks lovely. Will definitely wear it tomorrow.

This is the one I had a dupe for (not Velvet Beauty as previously stated), but the dupe just didn't smell or taste right (either it was off or just unpleasant) from the moment I got the lipstick, so despite really liking the colour, I never wore it. It was Milani I am Smart.

I'm hoping it will be as nice as the other LE lipsticks I have - they're some of the best I've tried.

LemonSea · 21/10/2020 23:04

I have bought three lipsticks thanks to this thread. My last lipstick purchase was about 15 years ago (Bobbi Brown nude I think, so brave) so this is big big news. I am trying to get my sh*t together. Went for Velvet Blush, V Muse and V Myth with free red velvet bag. I will report back if anyone wants, bearing in mind I wear makeup about twice a year so no expert!
