Your opticians?

I’ve been going to SS for years. Nothing particularly bad to say about them, although they have got my prescription wrong on a couple of occasions.

I wear varifocals & I think I’ll be due shortly an eye test, as if I remember correctly it’ll be coming up to around two years since my last one.

I’m thinking of trying a different optician. I have tried Boots before a while back & wasn’t greatly impressed with them either. So I’m thinking of either Asda or Costco? Does anyone go to them? There used to be a great independent optometrist in our villiage, I used him once many many years ago but he moved shortly after.

I've always gone to an independent, but my Mum goes to Tesco and thinks they're great. I think you will get good and bad opticians everywhere. There are 3 independents in our small town. One I've never been to, the one I go to and the other one who I find rude, brusque and rushed.

When I'm back in the UK I go to Cubitts in London. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a thorough eye exam.

I went to Vision Express at Tesco recently & was impressed with the optician & the knowledge of the Optician's assistants (not sure if that's their correct job titles).
Ive had to order my first pair of varifocals so a bit nervous.. the lady who looked after me was very concerned with getting the right measurements for the lenses & guided me to the right frames for my face ( £99 Lipsy frames so not too expensive).
My eye test was comprehensive & included photos of the back of the eye but was only £10 as I'm on PIP & can only work part time.
Pleased so far... will find out how I get on with the varifocals when they arrive on the 12th.

Also it was buy one pair of glasses get one half price.
So I bought new varifocals polarised lenses for my favourite sunglasses frames & got my new glasses half price... as the replacement sunglasses lenses were actually more expensive than the new pair of glasses!!
They offered insurance but weren't pushy. I have glasses included on my home & contents insurance.
