John Lewis - what to buy

I have very fortunately & unexpectedly, been gifted a £350 gift voucher for John Lewis.

As it was given to me for very personal reasons, I want to spend it on something for me, rather than the house or share it with the children / DH

I wouldn't normally spend this much on myself, let alone on style/beauty, so am little unsure on what to buy. Needs to be online only as the nearest John Lewis is a few hours drive away.

So, what would you buy?

Lucky you! Handbag, perfume, makeup. A jacket you've been coveting. But I'd probably go for a gorgeous handbag.

Are they booking their stylist sessions??? Probably a good way to go.

Also consider a make up lesson. I know Bobbi brown and Mac let you buy a lesson and redeem the value against a purchase.

Was going to suggest noise cancelling headphones or a tablet, but I see you’ve posted in S&B.

Cashmere jumper, watch, glam wool winter coat (Hobbs or Jigsaw), practical North Face parka, glam but practical knee length leather boots to wear with midi skirt, useful fashion trainers, perfume, gloves, handbag, throw out your old slightly knackered bras and replace them all with matching sets..

Some awesome suggestions already, thank you.

The make up lesson/personal style sessions are a good shout, but the store is so far away I don't think i would end up booking it. The new underwear is a very sensible idea, but I feel that this should be spent on something luxury/indulgent whereas underwear is a necessity in my head (even though matching would be a huge upgrade!)

I love the idea of a handbag or a really nice leather jacket maybe. Any specific recommendations?

Actually, a new handbag big enough for a laptop is really appealing to me. What is a good, understated brand I should be considering?

Or soft, real leather jacket that I've heard so many people talk about, to replace my fake Peacocks one maybe?

John Lewis has concessions of all the nice high street stores, so the best way to approach it it to look at the leather jackets (for example), see the ones you like and then try them on the next time you're in one of the high street stores.
If you can't see anything that grabs you now within your price range then it's worth holding out for one of their sales, as they can be good value too.
Worth downloading the JL app to do your browsing there.

Thank you ladies. Will start looking, but taking my time. Wonder if they do a black Friday sale?!

I was on the hunt for a leather jacket last year and my top 3 finds were in John Lewis: All Saints, Jigsaw & Hush. Your thread is great timing for me, I have a £200 voucher for JL, I’m thinking about a cashmere jumper, some new saucepans and if there’s any left over, skincare goodies. Their beauty department is brilliant.
Enjoy!
