Long chunky socks

Anyone know where to get good chunky knee-length (or longer) socks? I want them to be visible over knee boots. Ribbed or chunky rather than smooth knit, and ideally natural fibres or at least mostly natural. I have big feet (UK 8) so men's might be better, as a lot of women's 'one-size' socks only go up to a 7, I find. TIA!

Someone on another thread recommended kilt socks. I got I cheap-ish pair on eBay to try out. Wool mix, long, ribbed.

I wear shooting socks through winter - they are usually a wool mix, chunky, long enough to be worn above boots and usually come in a variety of colours :)
