Pleather jacket for a teenager

Dd has said she would like a leather or pleather jacket for Xmas. She will be 18. She is tall and lean.

I haven't a clue where to look, what to look at, or what sort of budget I should consider.

Help?

Well do you want leather or pleather? The budget could be anything from a £30 plastic jacket from ASOS to £350 from All Saints. I'd look at those two places

I wouldn't even consider buying this without her specifying exactly which jacket, and trying it on.

Leather/Pleather is just the material. The very most important factor is the style.

Asos make some great faux leather jackets. Maybe ask her to have a look at their styles?

I bought a Asos Design fake leather jacket in the sale for £19 and everyone was convinced it was leather AND very expensive as it looked so good.

I’d have a look on Zara - think they have a good balance between affordable and fashionable

I wouldn't buy it without your daughters input, there are so many styles to choose from!

I just got a nice brand new pleather jacket for £5 from a charity shop but in stores your looking at £25-£30 average

for my leather jackets they cost £150-£300 average, you can buy cheaper 2nd hand but I like cropped and fitted ones, I'm a size 8 and have yet to find a vintage/2nd hand one that fits, they are normally labled large and a size 12+

the main difference other than price is pleather doesnt last, I only have one pleather jacket over 10 years old, the others start disintergrating and flaking around the 5 year mark - the one that survived is patent leather effect and coated in a thick gloss so I'm guessing thats the key to its longevity over all the others but you can buy vintage leather jackets from the 80s that are still ok

Definitely dd will be involved in the choice, but I had no idea where to start. Asos and Zara for pleather, and vintage for real, thanks.

Leather jackets never fitted me in the 80s. A 12 then is a 10 now, but because 12 then was often labelled L. Nonetheless they were small, and I was a 14 then, so not a hope!
