I’ve just ordered this... do you think it’s a bit ‘older woman’ though? No offence meant by that but I’m hoping you get what I mean!
I’ve been looking for a collarless jacket d thought this was nice... second guessing myself now though.

Yep Grin.

The All Saints jacket is gorgeous. It is expensive but with care will last. My leather biker jacket is about 6 years old and still looks fab. I was lucky enough to pick it up in the All Saints sale.

BigFart · 28/09/2020 22:49

Hmm... maybe I should start saving instead then? 😬
I was reluctant to spend so much atm as I’m not at my goal weight yet, I obviously don’t want to blow mega bucks for it not to last!

Well anyway, it’s pretty unanimous... I shall not be keeping the Wallis jacket 😂

I've got that jacket. I'm 46, a size 20 and 40j boobs.

When it's done up by boobs look amazing and it gives me a lovely nipped in waist.

It goes with so much too xx

BigFart · 29/09/2020 07:30

See, I was thinking it may nip me in at the waist as well, that’s why I was drawn to it...

Well the much hated jacket has been dispatched. I shall try it on but i think I’d feel self conscious in it now just knowing how many of you hated it 🙈

But none of us will see you in it. If you like it just ignore us. It is worth paying as much as you can afford though. My Jaeger biker is at least five years old and still looks brand new.
WiserOwl · 29/09/2020 08:23

I like it. I would think 'not warm enough'
Id have to put a thermoball under it

BigFart · 29/09/2020 08:41

@VinylDetective yup, that’s the plan. I’ve got around another stone or so I want to lose and then I’ll invest in a good one. I’ve spent so much on jackets & coats over the last couple of years and now I’ve lost weight they all look a bit, well, big Grin

I’ll try it on, like you say, I might love it.
The Shirley from eastenders comment has pretty much ruined it for me though 😂

I'm 46 and think it's awful .. You can't really go wrong with an all saints biker but size down . They aren't supposed to do up and they stretch

Oldraver · 29/09/2020 11:35

I'm 55 and had one like that (but with a collar) when I was 14/15, hence me not liking it oo much.

It was a lovely jacket though and my pride and joy

CleverCatty · 29/09/2020 11:48

@Frappuccinofan

Have you considered a leather blazer? They’re v trendy right now, so not as timeless in comparison, but you’d get the longer length and the less bulky collar you’re after. I bought one from Zara for £49.
I got a lovely dark grey leather Vero Moda blazer needs a slight bit of repair but for about £7 in my local charity shop
CleverCatty · 29/09/2020 11:50

@cushioncovers

Have leather jackets made a comeback? I'm 50 and wore this sort of thing in my twenties. God I feel old BlushSad
It totally depends what sort of leather jacket you mean and what style too.

I've got a H&M premium biker jacket, a Nicole Farhi sort of washed black/very dark grey classic jacket, a Jigsaw biker jacket etc - but all black/very dark grey. I'm thinking of getting a navy blue leather jacket.

I think leather jackets are timeless.

doodleygirl · 29/09/2020 13:41

But, if you love it you must keep it. That’s the beauty of clothes, fashion, style - to understand what you love and that you feel amazing in. It really doesn’t matter what other people think. Smile

BigFart · 29/09/2020 13:54

@doodleygirl you are totally right! I often wear things I know other people would shake their head at! 🤣 but the whole leather jacket situation is a tough but to crack... maybe I just can’t pull them off at all?

Well ladies, you’ll be pleased to know my parcel arrived. Jacket was tried on... and you’re all absolutely right, it was bloody hideous.
It didn’t look the least bit like leather (I know it’s faux, but still!). It was too big. It had that horrible sticky feeling as soon as I put it on (you know the types that makes you sweat profusely!) and it smelled cheap.
It didn’t seem as long as in the pictures but either way, it’s a no from me.

sigh
What other kind of jacket can I just throw on with jeans or a dress? I give up on leather for now. I don’t want to spend £300 on one atm. I will, one day.

@QueenOllie - you are not size 18. You look half my size and I'm size 14. Those jeans look great.

That £££ Reiss jacket is too nice.

Blazer is a good one to throw on with jeans or a dress.

You could do what I did - have a browse around a charity shop for a leather blazer.

My work website has blocked Asos but they've got a Goosecraft worn leather blazer in black for £106.65 down from £237 - all sizes available - you could buy and return if not suitable. link to Goosecraft below.

For what it's worth I'd spend a bit of time looking round various sites or in shops for leather - a boyfriend of mine years ago when I wanted to get a proper leather jacket - ended up being Moschino which I've still got but forgot about - I wasn't sure what I wanted - had one of those trendy gold hardware bags but the Moschino jacket actually was far simpler - anyway - I was toying between buying a Mango etc leather jacket and boyfriend I had then said no and then bought me the Moschino one as a surprise.
