Didrikson, Landsend or Baleno?

My Seasalt Janelle has lost its waterproofing ( despite me washing it with proofer twice) so I am sadly retiring it. I’m looking for something long and waterproof for dog walking and school run. It doesn’t need to be ultra toasty as I’m not standing still on sidelines. I’ve trawled through the threads for inspiration and have come down to these choices ( although if you have anything that could beat them I have an open mind). Budget is up to £300, given how much time I will spend in it.

Didriksons

Landsend

Baleno

As you can see, I’m not after any particular style, it’s more important that it’s long and waterproof and built to last. Any opinions?

I have 4 landends coats, I really rate them.
The squall is long and very warm. It is my winter dog walking coat but only used November to February in Scotland as is too warm unless it is bitterly cold. But is fantasticly water proof
The 3 in one squall might be a better option depending on where you live and how warm you need the coat.

I’ve had a couple of Didrikson coats and rate them. However, I prefer to wear my Seasalt plant Hunter unless it’s really cold

I hadn’t noticed the 3 in 1 @umberellaonesie, I’ll go and have a look, thanks

@NHSEA I think the Plant Hunter is too short, I need my knees covered so that I don’t have to wear waterproof trousers or wellies to avoid wet trousers, thanks though

I bought a Didrickson Nadine for dog walking and I've been very pleased with it. It is warm and waterproof, although possibly a bit too warm for milder weather.

WeeMadArthur · 28/09/2020 09:07

@bodgeitandscarper thanks, I’ll take that as a vote for Didriksons

I love my Didrikson. I wear it with a padded gilet underneath in colder weather.

WeeMadArthur · 28/09/2020 09:14

Can anyone confirm what the sizing is like with Didrikson? I know the Seasalt Janelle you need to size down, and it looks the same with the Baleno, but is Didrikson true to size?

I think Didrikson is true to size. I’ve had Didrikson and wore it until it disintegrated. I only went with lands end as I decided I wanted a tall fit and it had 75% off so as much as I loved my Didrikson I had to get the lands end one! Not much help but you can’t go wrong with either so chose the style you like best.

£300 is a decent budget so have you tried Ilse Jacobsen? Love them but too expensive for me.

Ellapaella · 28/09/2020 09:26

I think the Didrikson is far nicer than the other two.

Shantotto · 28/09/2020 09:27

Hmm just had a look and Ilse isn’t as expensive as I remember and there’s a huge sale on. Doesn’t seem to have much in the way of waterproof and warm at the moment though, just rain gear. Maybe my current coat will have to have some sort of unfortunate accident...

OneofPansPeople · 28/09/2020 09:33

I think the Baleno would be my choice simply for the long length and it does look more stylish imo.

ProperVexed · 28/09/2020 09:37

Of the three you have posted I think the Didrikson is the nicest looking. I'm rather hoping my Janelle loses its waterproofing then I could have the Didrikson!

Sundaypolodog · 28/09/2020 09:43

@WeeMadArthur try the seasalt Janelle as it's longer than the plant hunter - I've had then both. I'm 5' 7" and it covered my knees

GervaseFen · 28/09/2020 12:51

I love my Didrikson because its so toasty but if you are not going to be standing around or walking at toddler pace it may be overkill.

WeeMadArthur · 28/09/2020 14:20

@Shantotto Ilse Jacobsen has some lovely stuff but I’d have to revamp the rest of my wardrobe to match!
