Eyelash tint - Can you put it on like mascara

superstar63 · 27/09/2020 11:11

Just that really, can it be put on with an old mascara wand and left on for the relevant time and then washed off or does it have to be done like in the beauty salons which I think would be hard to do yourself.

Also any recommendations for the best one?

I use mascara wands instead of the wands that come with the pack because I find it easier. It works fine.

EasilyDeleted · 27/09/2020 11:43

I've done it with a mascara wand but my lashes are dark and so I don't need to get down to the root, I only do it because the ends are faded and pale compared to the roots.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/09/2020 12:35

I comb through with a spoolie, and use a tiny brush for the roots. Like an eyeliner brush.

Notarealmum · 27/09/2020 12:51

Yes, I use a mascara wand too

superstar63 · 27/09/2020 13:16

OK thanks, it sounds like a mascara wand is easy enough to do but which one do you all use or are they all pretty much the same?

Which product do you all recommend? Would like a go myself but not sure which dye to choose as the ones on Amazon have very mixed reviews.

dun1urkin · 27/09/2020 14:42

I use the little stick thing, I find it easier than using a mascara brush, especially getting down to the roots.
I use refectocil, find it much better than the ones you can get in boots/superdrug.
I’m blonde with almost transparent eyebrow and eyelash hairs, and use blue/black on my lashes, and light brown on my brows.

GreyishDays · 27/09/2020 14:44

I use a cotton bud. It’s fine.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/09/2020 14:50

I use Strictly Professional, which is what they use at the brow place I go to. I have blue/black for lashes, brown for brows, plus the developer lotion. I don’t think the kits from eg Boots are much use personally.

refectocil - mascara wand for brows and lashes

MakeOfThatWhatYouWill · 27/09/2020 15:01

Is it easy to do?

Updownin · 27/09/2020 15:42

Yes!

LunaNorth · 27/09/2020 15:59

Ordered! Thank you

kiwiblue · 27/09/2020 18:19

Oh I looked into this too as I'm sick of my lashes (always used to get it done at a salon but haven't had it done in about a year as I had a baby a year ago then Covid) but the reviews were really mixed on Amazon. Is it actually easy? I saw some have developer and peroxide so it just sounded really hard and I felt sure I wouldn't be able to do it! Confused

dun1urkin · 27/09/2020 18:58

Eyebrows are easier than eyelashes for obvious reasons, but yes it’s pretty easy.
It does take some practice, and I always have a good supply of cotton buds to hand for drips and tidying up when I ‘go over the lines’, but it really isn’t that hard.

I think the instructions tell you to do one eye at a time, with one eye closed and one eye open. I’ve never done this.

I don’t use any barrier cream/Vaseline either, as I find I get it on my lashes, which renders the whole process void!

(I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager)

dun1urkin · 27/09/2020 19:00

The ones you have to mix yourself, with a squirt of colour cream out of a tube, and x drops of the liquid, are in my experience far better than anything else.

kiwiblue · 27/09/2020 19:23

Ok thanks, I see you use refectocil, so I will give it a go!

Updownin · 27/09/2020 21:42

I do the same - just put it on both eyes like mascara and catch any drips. I don't bother with Vaseline. I use 3. Brown on both my brows and lashes and then add a squirt of blue/black to the brown and some more developer and do my lashes again once my brows are done. It works really well.

Updownin · 27/09/2020 21:43

You have to but it all separately- colour tube, developer lotion (or cream) - last forever and ever, little glass mixing pot.

kiwiblue · 28/09/2020 10:14

Thank you! Have purchased

kiwiblue · 19/10/2020 14:39

Update, so I just tried this and it was actually really easy and I'm really pleased with the results! Thanks for the advice! I'm so glad I gave it a go, I've been having it done in salons for years but was often not that happy with the results. I was really pleasantly surprised how easy this was!

Which one did you buy please ?
BringMeTea · 19/10/2020 19:57

I got the refectocil on the back of this thread. It's great stuff.

kiwiblue · 19/10/2020 20:51

@SpeckledyHen refectocil.

Babyvibe · 19/10/2020 21:02

I use an eyebrow brush which seems to get better results. I also brush up and then close my eyes and brush downwards to get right to base of my eyelashes.
