If you lost a few stone...

How did your face change?

I need to lose 4 stone but can’t work out if I will look cheekbones like I used to have or.... haggard as fuck. I’ve realised that this is subconsciously stopping me.

So how did YOUR face change with weight loss?

I’m 46

I basically need reassurance.
Would I need fillas?

When I was 3 stone heavier my face was huge, I looked like a barm cake. I only have small facial features, so the chub really enveloped it all. Look better now (and 5-7 years younger)

I've lost 6 stone. I've always had a roundish face. I'm not too sure if the lines and crows feet were there before or not! I'm retinoling and moisturising as much as I can. My alternative was diabetes and worse so health was my priority above my face...

Oh I know, Fanjo, I know i have to do it I’m just miserable the way things are.

I've lost 3.5 stone since I had DC2. Overall, my face looks better - I've lost my double chin, I have a jaw line again. However, I do think I look a bit older and more, I dunno, tired? But I have two young non-sleeping kids so maybe that's why!

Fannybawz · 28/09/2020 06:48

Congrats to everybody who’s lost a lot of weight btw

I’ve got myself into a total self pity rut where I feel like I’m too old to be able to lose anything

I used to be able to carve off half a stone a week if I needed to do it

Much of it seems to be the mindset of patience

@Fannybawz

So are the wrinkles not more prominent! I have terrible lines and wonder if I’ll need to take serious steps to address them

A healthy body would give me far more than a pretty face however... so I’m on the case so to speak...

Not that I've noticed? I'm 42 but wasn't especially wrinkly beforehand anyway. And being thinner makes me look younger overall, I think - I looked quite matronly before.

I have recently lost about 1.5-2 stone (inaccurate weighing scales initially mean I'm not entirely sure how much). I am eating much healthier and doing loads more exercise. I feel like my wrinkles have lessened and my skin looks better. I was starting a double chin which was NOT a good look on me, and that has gone, and my cheekbones are much more visible. I am happy with my 'new' face. I'm about to turn 40.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 28/09/2020 18:28

@Fannybawz I have been in that rut - but you can do it! Head over to the weight section for tips and encouragement, I have found it very useful.

I have found success using My Fitness Pal to log calories, doing 16:8 to curb my late night munchies habit, and eating a shit ton of veg so I'm never eating a tiny plate of nothing, even if there's not too many calories on the plate there's a lot of food. And I allow myself treats every now and then, so I won't fall off the wagon because I know I can eat some cake at the weekend (I don't always want to now, which is a complete revelation!)

GrimDamnFanjo · 29/09/2020 00:50

@Fannybawz apologies I may have come over harsher than intended as I'm really vain and have dreaded the weight loss wrinkles appearing...
I've lost my weight consistently since Feb - August was a write off but I'm back losing again...
I've done it using MyFitnessPal 16:8 and very low carb. Plus a lot of walking and yoga since June.
I'm trying to convince myself this is the last big diet...

Fannybawz · 29/09/2020 07:42

@GrimDamnFanjo

Hey don’t worry, you’re spot on

I’m still agog at a six stone weight loss, v inspiring stuff. Surely people don’t recognise you now!!

I lost about one and a half stone a few years ago and with it, I lost my cheeks. I have high cheek bones so the skin just sort of hangs off them now (goes straight down to my jaw - I think they call it the Oge curve or something).

I'd rather look a bit haggard and thin than be fat though as I tend to look masculine and stocky rather than curvy if I put weight on.

I thought about cheek fillers but realised I'd just be a thin old woman with fat cheeks which isn't a good look. Natural is best in most cases.

I do miss my lovely cheeks though.

CleverCatty · 29/09/2020 11:53

I don't actually look much difference when I've been a few stone lighter. at 9 stone maybe slightly sharper facial features than say compared to 11 stone which I am at now.

GrimDamnFanjo · 30/09/2020 00:37

@Fannybawz I'm not sure as I haven't really seen many people !
I've another 3 - 3.5 stone to go . Usually at this point I decide I'm thin enough and stop and put it all in again but I'm finding this time I feel more like I can keep going...
Back to the face! I'm using Tret and vit c , hylauronic acid etc so just keep doing the regime hoping the end result won't be too bad. I have become aware though of how much natural filler I had !
