Long waterproof warm coat

It seems you can't have all 3!
I really need a good winter coat for school runs and cliff top walks. I'm always cold so a down filling would be ideal plus it will get muddy with kids and dogs.
I've tried wax jackets but found them so heavy and uncomfortable.
Amy recommendations? I'm 5'6 and a size 10

I know what you mean. TOG24 do some lovely coats.

Try RAB? I don't know how long you need it. I'm 5'5" & mine comes to my knees. It's down filled, but not bulky. I haven't worn it in torrential rain yet though. It's fine in showers.

Seasalt do great coats...warm and waterproof, and some are pretty long, like the Janelle. I have one, and you will find lots of other Seasalt recommendations in coat threads. This will be the third winter I wear mine, and it still looks good. www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/waterproof-jackets-raincoats/all-rain/fleece-lined-waterproof-womens-janelle-coat.htm

I've just bought this one www.blacks.co.uk/15998480/didriksons-women-s-natasha-padded-parka-15998480
Not the most stylish I'd admit but it's lovely and warm

LightOfAThousandStars · 25/09/2020 21:49

North Face Arctic Parka has down filling, very warm and waterproof

lovelilies · 26/09/2020 00:15

Thank you for the replies. The trespass one isn't waterproof (I have it already, soggy shoulders after one shower!) and the other isn't long enough.
Janelle looks good, is it very cosy and warm?

I have the Seasalt Janelle coat. Had it for
6 yrs so it’s the old style. When I bought it I was 36 for reference. A few friends took the mick at first and said it was like a sleeping bag Cos it was so long, but very practical. Didn’t laugh so much when I was the driest one on the school run, which is what I’d essentially got it for. 6 yrs later I’m definitely going to replace it with the newer version, it’s much nicer

The North Face Arctic parka sounds great.
Yesterday I saw it on thegreatoutdoors.ie for €200.
I was going to recommend you take a look OP.
Today I checked their website and it's €400.
SadSadSad
I checked my browsing history to see if I imagined it at €200.
Nope - it was there in my browsing history.
€200 dearer today - aghhhhh
