Pat McGrath make-up

Does anyone have much experience of Pat McGrath make-up? It doesn’t seem to be discussed here much, though seems to be big amongst beauty journalists. I bought a single eyeshadow and lipstick in the sale, and really like them. Would be good to know people’s thoughts on the palettes and whether they are worth the huge price tag.

I’ve got a serum foundation I like, but that’s the only thing I’ve tried.

Got it in the USA - seems to be very popular there.

I love the luxetrance and mattetrance lipsticks (have 7). Most of them were bought on sale. I think full price is 36 quid, and that's a lot for a lipstick. Not sure I would pay that for them - but IMO it's the best lipstick formula I have tried - better than Tom Ford, much better and more consistent than Charlotte Tilbury, better than Mac. Lisa Eldridge lipsticks are up there with Pat McGrath.

The sheer colour balms are okay, but not worth 28 quid. I have a set of 3 minis.

I also have lip gloss (bronze astral vinyl gloss and clear vinyl gloss - in squeeze tubes) and liquid lipsticks, which were sold in sets, and I don't think they're sold any longer - they're a bit crap.

The shadows are nice. But not worth the full price - they are eye shadows, not exceptional compared to other powder shadows.

I have Golden Opulence, Platinum Bronze (it's a bit too dark for me so I don't use it much), the two small eye ecstasy palettes (no mattes), and the Rose Venus and Statuesque (use this one every day) singles.

The shadows are generally quite pigmented and generally blend well.
I don't think they last well on the lid and I have to use a base to make them last longer than a few hours.
The shimmery/glittery ones all have fall-out, so I have shimmer falling on my face while wearing the shadows and when applying. Some of these shadows (sinful and gold nectar) feel like a cream to powder when applying, but the glittery bits still migrate down my face during the day. They are beautiful though.

There are pretty decent offers on her website, but shipping takes a while (but free to the UK). So you can find palettes 50% off, and last year's black Friday offer was lipsticks for £10 each, which was amazing.
Often there are 10% codes as well.

In short: The formulas are not so amazing they are worth the high price.
But the palettes are more exciting than many other brands IMO - so I will keep buying, just not at full price.

There are offers on the site at the moment. I have the neutral palette which is selling for £11. www.patmcgrath.com/products/eye-ecstasy-eye-shadow-palette

Thanks for all the feedback, especially the detail from @RiskIt4Biscuit.

I decided to take the plunge and get the new Celestial palette. At “only” £60 (plus I had a 10% discount code) it seemed like a relative bargain compared to the mothership palettes at £120! Sort of justified it to myself that it’s in line with prices for brands like Charlotte Tilbury.

Will definitely look out for Black Friday bargains.

I am awaiting on some Blitztrance lipsticks.

Nude Romantique (Warm Rose Nude with Golden Pink Pearl)

Flesh Fatale (Bronzed Rose with Golden Pink Pearl)

Lady Stardust (Rose Mauve with Champagne Pearl)

Skinsane (Cool Mauve with Golden Pearl)

Flesh 3 (Bronzed Rose Neutral with Golden Pearl)

They look like they will be more shimmery than glittery.

I have a couple of the matte lipsticks, both red - one is Elson II and I can’t remember the other. I find the formula very drying, and I only wear matte lipsticks. For me the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks are a hundred times better

Soutiner · 30/12/2020 23:06

I got an email from Pat Mcgraph earlier today saying my items were being dispatched. I then got an email and a text from DHL to arrange delivery.

All good and then just now I got an email from Pat Mcgraph saying I am being refunded for one of the lipsticks - Nude Romantique as it’s out of stock.

That annoys me when companies do this, they shouldn’t make items available to purchase if not enough stock.

I’ve had other lipsticks and they were ok not brilliant but I like the look of these shimmery ones.

I have the MatteTrance lipstick in Flesh 3 and it’s the best lipstick I’ve ever had. Even though it’s just a regular bullet lipstick the staying power is second to none. Comfortable formula and I love the colour.

It's Dame Pat McGrath now!

FlorisFigure · 31/12/2020 00:15

Has anyone used the mascara? I have fine eyelashes and so big clunky mascara wands are no good for me.

@TheSpottedZebra

It's Dame Pat McGrath now!
I know! This time yesterday I'd never heard of her!
