any recommendations??
Dd1's hair is staring to get really greasy really quickly.
Ideally cheap & cheerful if possible.

Dd is using a Tresemme deep cleansing one just now - says for normal to greasy hair
Think L'Oréal elvive does a clay one for greasy hair too

Tweetypietwo · 24/09/2020 09:06

This is great! www.boots.com/pantene-hair-biology-shampoo-cleanse-and-reconstruct-250ml-10265438 it is for greasy scalp and dry ends, I wash my hair with e45shampoo followed by this shampoo and the condition, I can go 3 days without washing my hair (if I don't use hair spray ect) i won't use anything else now!

Avoid anything that says 'shine' or 'illuminate find these make by hair greasy much quicker

bobloblawlawblog · 24/09/2020 09:08

The Tresemme @dementedpixie mentions works well for my partner who gets greasy hair from being a chef! And if I have product overload in my own hair I use it to clear it, cheap and effective. Is the one with green writing on bottle

steppemum · 24/09/2020 09:11

This happened with my girls when they were still using children's shampoo. They were using one of the vosene kids strawberry ones, that sort of thing.

We switched to an adult shampoo, and it solved the problem. Herbal Essence O% range is good. (and cheap)

I think the kids shampoo may also have been a 2in1, so we switched to shampoo and conditioner, and they only conditioned the ends, that helped too.

DD11 has had great results with either Lidl or Aldi's Tea tree shampoo and conditioner. The Alberto Balsam range is nearly as cheap and equally effective.

Ouch44 · 24/09/2020 10:56

My DD has this problem too. The Tresemme Deep Cleansing one and also the apple Alberto Balsam are good. Works even better when she actually washes all her hair properly with it! She always seems to miss some despite me showing her how to get it to the roots!

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 24/09/2020 18:03

Thanks all - I've put the apple Alberto balsam onto my click & collect order coz it was the only one available so we'll see how it goes.
The tip about rinsing with cold water is great too.

We also use Apple Alberto Bahlsam and love it for DDs and my long fine hair.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 26/09/2020 20:01

The trick is to shampoo your hair twice once a week or so

hopefulness · 26/09/2020 20:19

I really liked Mane 'n Tail for when my hair is going through a greasy phase.

Marias6 · 26/09/2020 20:46

Vosene shampoo works from first wash and is also good for cleansing build up on hair. Plus doesn't break the bank.

BornOnThe4thJuly · 26/09/2020 20:51

I second Herbal Essences 0% and definitely shampooing twice every time, plus only conditioning the ends. I also think my hair is better when I swap shampoo every few weeks.

MaddieElla · 26/09/2020 20:51

T Gel is great, obviously the one for greasy hair.

Also I second the Clay L'Oréal one.

MikeUniformMike · 26/09/2020 21:24

Lidl shampoo is fine. They used to do a green one that I loved but they don't have it now.
I'd recommend that Dd1 has her own brush/comb and not share it.

Alfiemoon1 · 26/09/2020 21:27

We got good results with treseme deep cleanse and the apple Alberto as well

Alfiemoon1 · 26/09/2020 21:28

Teenage ds with greasy hair uses head and shoulders

Vosene, but the adult one, I use it every other wash. If you get it from Bodycare or Savers it's only £1. Removes build up of product amazingly well!!

MrsPnut · 26/09/2020 21:36

DD2 uses mane and tail but it isn’t cheap. I still have greasy hair in my 40’s and use tresemme clarifying shampoo and always double wash. I use t gel occasionally because I have a patch of scalp dermatitis too that shows if I use the wrong shampoo.

funtimefrank · 26/09/2020 22:08

We use vosene, tresemme deep clean or apple Alberto balsam.

Vosene working welll atm but she has to use conditioner on her ends. She has fine hair and the tresemme can sometimes weight it down a bit.

nevernotstruggling · 26/09/2020 22:08

We have this problem. We use head and shoulders now and then.
We haven't cracked how to go more than 2 days without a wash and dd1 is nearly 11 only.

We are using dry shampoo and night before bed on day 2 and this helps a lot as most of it has disappeared by morning.

The excessive washing is cooking the ends though

poptypingchef · 26/09/2020 22:23

I’ve got fine hair that needed to be washed daily. During lockdown I took the opportunity to see what would help. I now use Faith in nature tee tree shampoo and conditioner. I also had success with Palmolive

SophieGiroux · 26/09/2020 22:41

My dd can't go two days without washing and we find the cheap apple shampoos like Lidl's own or Alberto Balsam are best. Mane n Tail is also ok but not any better than the cheap ones.
The Elvive clay one didn't help with the grease though.

SophieGiroux · 26/09/2020 22:42

Pantene used to do a clarifying shampoo that was awesome but looks like it's discontinued now unfortunately

FlyingByTheSeatof · 28/09/2020 08:58

What I mean is wash it twice at the same time ie hairwash if that makes sense like a double cleanse. Not just two separate times of the week.
