Anyone following Caroline Hirons regime

SundayReilly · 23/09/2020 21:40

Been doing it approx a month.
My make up is sliding off as I have so much stuff underneath during the day
Massive spots on my neck due to her advice to TITTT!
Enjoying double cleanse but skin is not great.
Does it take ages to transform me into a glowy beauty ?

What are you actually using? As in products and when? I follow some of it but I've worked out what works for my skin

TeddyIsaHe · 24/09/2020 06:34

What’s your routine and what are your skin issues? CH got me into skincare, but I follow my own routine depending on what my skin needs and it the best it’s ever looked.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/09/2020 10:06

If it hasn't worked for month then it won't.

Why do you keep doing something that doesn't work for you? And at great expense, I assume.

WowStarsWow · 24/09/2020 10:09

I don't like Caroline and have never followed her, but you need to give things 6 weeks to see whether they work or not. Having said that, that advice only really applies when you change one thing. If you change several at once, it will be impossible to tell what works and what doesn't. It sounds like your skin is overwhelmed. One regime will never work for everyone.

stripeyd · 24/09/2020 10:10

She got me into double cleansing, but now I follow proper dermatologists instead. A lot of what CH says is subjective and therefore bollocks for most people. Her advice on tret is wrong, and she encourages people to send so much money!

TheSeedsOfADream · 24/09/2020 10:17

You've probably thrown too much too quickly at your skin.
What products are you using?
Tbh, Caroline, Nadine B and others really only say the fundamentals are:

Cleanse
Hydrate
Vit C of some kind am and other actives suitable for you pm.
Sunscreen am

The routines as such are pretty straightforward.

cloud1183 · 24/09/2020 10:44

I double cleanse now following her advice but don’t follow the regime exactly and use brands I like but she doesn’t. She advises using vit c but I’ve never used one that my skin likes and they always break me out. I followed her advice on how to deal with spots and it made my spots so much worse and they lasted much longer.

SundayReilly · 24/09/2020 11:04

Just started double cleanse with Clinique take off the day - love it.
Introduced a serum
Always used a SPF and retinol.
Facial oil too- have always used.
So isn't costing me a lot it just the layering of products and time taken.
I like her instructions as so many writers just go on and on mentioning the various products they are promoting.
CH is prescriptive.
Hmm may skip everything apart from double cleanse.
Quite a tone with some of the responses though.
Hmm

Hi @SundayReilly, as you've noted in some of the responses, CH can be quite divisive.
As someone else said:
Double cleanse
Vit C
SPF
An active that works for you at night.

glasshalfsomething · 24/09/2020 11:28

Are you using a toner at all? An acid toner was what made the biggest difference to my skin.

doadeer · 24/09/2020 11:36

I'm mixed on her.

I do double cleanse, use an acid, serum, moisturiser and oil but my skin likes it. When I help family I tend to do a more simple routine. I don't wear much make up these days but I do less if I plan on doing it.

I'm in the freaks group on Facebook and the excess and buying frenzy makes me feel a bit sick. Women buying hundreds of products and hiding statements from their partners. I'm not a fan of this culture.

TeddyIsaHe · 24/09/2020 11:36

Yes to acid toning. You don’t need to double cleanse in the morning, a gentle cleanser just to get the night grime off is fine.

Then it just depends on your skin and what you want to achieve for anything else. If it’s in pretty good nick an eye cream, moisturiser and spf may well be enough.

I like to layer about 50 different products (slight exaggeration but not far off!) but my skin looks best when it’s super pampered and kicks off if I miss a step.

CinnamonSweet73 · 24/09/2020 12:57

Are you using Sunday Riley products given your name Smile
I like Caroline but I think a lot of people do use too much. I'm in the freaks group too and some of the spending and amounts of products used are bananas. I've tried a few new things this year- have a bit more cash spare due to staying at home - am enjoying using some but at 47 not expecting dramatic changes! I do like Sunday Riley products!

TheSeedsOfADream · 24/09/2020 13:11

God yes, an acid toner (and I'm talking cheap as chips Olay anti wrinkle in my case) made the biggest difference ever.

Cinnamon- I left the freaks group because it was too much.

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/09/2020 13:13

I’m so confused about CH. How can someone who doesn’t look good for their age, give tips on rejuvenating skin regimes? It’s like taking weight advice from someone who’s clinically obese. I don’t get it.

TeddyIsaHe · 24/09/2020 13:13

The Freaks group is bonkers, truly one of the weirdest groups I’ve ever been in. I do like CH and her advice, but some people think she is the be all and end all.

Pancakeorcrepe · 24/09/2020 13:33

I think her advice is allright but only if you adapt it to your needs. Don’t be following it religiously like those mad fans do.
If I followed her full regime, my face would be red raw lol.

LightOfAThousandStars · 24/09/2020 14:35

Acid toners definitely help with the glow you are after. Pixi Glow tonic is a great option for that and often on offer. I noticed a change in my skin after a few weeks but have to be careful not to strip it too much and still keep it hydrated. Using a gel water based moisturiser like Neutrogena Hydro boost works well without breaking out your skin. Traditional foaming face washes are bad because they strip your skin and dry it out. Double cleansing is a must if wearing makeup or spf.

applepineapple · 24/09/2020 14:40

Skip CH routine. Keep it simple and introduce products slowly

Cleanse
Hyaluronic acid
Moisturiser if you need it
SPF

Double cleanse
Hyaluronic acid
Retinol 2/3 times a week
Moisturiser

hoping4onlychild · 24/09/2020 14:43

@doadeer i left that facebook group for that reason.

I love skincare and makeup but I don't buy expensive products. I have been quite strict on myself regarding this because if you are exposed daily to daily posts on social media of ordinary women spending £60 on a serum, it would be easy over time to convince yourself that this is normal. Thats not the kind of life I want to lead.

Its amazing how long term exposure to social media and influencers can convince you.

stripeyd · 24/09/2020 15:09

The 'freaks' are insane. Fancy calling someone your 'queen'. Absolutely gross.

TeaOneSugar · 24/09/2020 15:15

I've been watching CH on YouTube this week and joined the FB group, it's blown my mind, I love good skincare and don't mind spending money on it but I'm finding it totally overwhelming the amount of products recommended, and the terminology.

SundayReilly · 24/09/2020 15:46

Gosh I am more intrigued than ever.
Thanks all.

Would someone mind explaining to me what double cleaning is?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/09/2020 18:52

Would someone mind explaining to me what double cleaning is?

Basically you pay for two cleansers.
