Just wondered if anyone had any experience of using this service? It's an online service where you answer some questions regarding your lifestyle, size, shape and clothing preferences and then get a stylist to send some items out to you, it's not a subscription and you can return the selection but if choose to keep anything the £10'stylist fee is redeemable against it. I have really lost my way with clothes, hate shopping and have very limited budget - wondered if this was worth a go?

I use them and just had my second box. They seem to really take into account what you say and this box has been really good.

CarinaClaws · 23/09/2020 11:16

I did and didn't like it. The stuff that came was bog standard high street and there were a few things that I'd specifically said I don't like. I started it just before lockdown and decided it just wasn't worth the hassle of posting everything back when nothing was really any good.

SadWife2020 · 23/09/2020 11:24

I had a bad experience too - I tried hard to explain what I was after and did their little thumbs up / down quizzes to teach the algorithm but what they sent me was unwearable, the second box was even worst than the first so I gave up - it was depressing

aristo · 23/09/2020 11:29

I've had 5/6 boxes so far and those 30 items I have kept:

A jacket
A pair of trousers
A jumper
A pair of shoes
Another jumper
Two dresses
Pair of trainers

What's great about it is, it allows you to step out of your comfort zone and try things you wouldn't normally. That's great for me because I was stuck in a rut.

I can PM you a link so you get some money off

ficklemissfickle · 23/09/2020 11:30

AnnoyedByAlfieBear - can I ask what sort of cost of the items sent?

I had a mixed experience, hated everything in the first box but felt that they'd taken my advice on board for the second - plus they waived the stylist charge because I hadn't liked anything first time round. I wanted items that were a bit outside my comfort zone but still practical with a small child and the second box really hit the nail on the head. I also tried Lookiero which got it totally wrong plus was a nightmare returning stuff.

You set your average cost per item

Yeah I wasn't as keen on lookiero

If you're considering it and want £15 off (plus I get it too 😉) then my personal link is www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/mpxfq4gccx?sod=w&som=c so feel free to use it!

I’ve just had my second box. The first I bought nothing but with this one I will be keeping a lovely jumper and a bag. Both from brands I didn’t know about before. The stylist seemed to listen to feedback after my first box. I tend to buy new clothes each month and would spend at least £10 on petrol, parking, coffee etc when out shopping, so when I factor in that I also don’t want to be out and about right now, it’s well worth it for me. I also have a referral code if anyone wants it :)

AutumnSummersBuffysCousin · 23/09/2020 11:50

I also get it and like it-sent stuff I wouldn’t normally look at and it’s easy to use.

ficklemissfickle · 23/09/2020 12:10

Thanks all, I've booked a delivery for 9th October so we will see!

I tried it, got lots of boring over priced clothes.
It's just was a waste of time, I think I had 5 boxes in all - put time and effort into explaining why I didn't like the things selected for me.
My friend had it and found hers was always full of sale items (not marked sale of course) so if she liked anything she would go direct and buy it for 1/2 price at the original retailer.

500BusStops · 23/09/2020 20:34

I’ve had a few nice things, the 3rd attempt was much better. They kept sending me polyester tops despite me specifically saying I didn’t want it and would spend more for natural fibres. But I’ve had some great jeans and cargo pants that I’ve worn a lot and fit me perfectly. I didn’t think much of the jewellery (one necklace I couldn’t untangle to even try on!). But I like the surprise element and it cheers me up when a new box arrives!

Pepvixen · 25/09/2020 16:28

I've been using them for about a year. I hate shopping so it suits me well. I've been happy with nearly all of my boxes. Don't think I'll go back to shopping any other way. I find that asking for specific pieces leads to better fixes.

Meripenopause · 27/09/2020 08:59

I have used it 3 times recently.
First time, I kept 2 items, a bright green shirt dress and a strong shade of blue off-the-shoulder top. Both were by their own brand Mauvette and reasonably priced. Washed well too.
2nd box was awful - a drop waist dress, a sweater with cream shades and cropped jeans. Basically the opposite of what I said I liked in my style quiz.
3rd time, I upped the price and got some 'standard' stuff I didn't keep - Hobbs cardigan, Joules dress, which didn't have much to say for themselves considering the price. There was a lovely necklace (again Mauvette) which I kept but unfortunately snapped on 2nd wearing. I kept some trousers from Inwear which were £80+, more than I usually spend, but they were a bit different and seemed great quality.
I recently order a box from Lookiero and kept some high-waisted jeans, an olive-coloured shirt and blue blazer from Ichi, all pretty inexpensive but well-fitting.
I am going to try Lookiero again and maybe Stitch Fix as I think I need the help. Left to my own devices, I buy loud florals and striped things because they look 'cheerful'. I'd like to be a bit more stylish.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 27/09/2020 10:59

I think they can be good if you’re not particularly bothered about clothes but like to look nice. It’s fairly generic and while they encourage you to ask for things you want e.g. a leather jacket, they literally send you the first leather jacket in your price range and there are far nicer ones out there in a similar price when you look online. But if you’re looking for someone to dress you in trendy things with no effort then it’s helpful. Returning stuff is incredibly easy and free.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 27/09/2020 19:38

@startedearlytookmycats I’ve used your link to book a box thank you!

startedearlytookmycats · 27/09/2020 21:32

@AlaskaThunderfuck thank YOU, I think we both get a freebie now! Hope it works for you, let us know what you get. Unwrapping it is probably my favourite part...
