Shower caps (most exciting thread ever!)

I need a decent shower cap my current one, which was free with something about five years ago, has collapsed.
Any recommendations for a good quality long lasting cap that will actually keep my hair dry?

Home bargains had some really cheap ones in, I use one every day (I have very long hair) and the size is bigger than those I have paid a lot for, lasting over 2 months now.

I am yet to find the holy grail of showercap at a reasonable cost that is large enough to get all my hair in!

Boots? I always get mine from there and they last ages

goose1964 · 22/09/2020 19:22

I have this one, it must be about 5 years old and still looks brand new. dillydaydream.com/our-product-collections/classic-shower-caps/funky-flamingo-shower-cap

You reminded me of this; years ago I volunteered in a charity shop. One of the other volunteers bought a new shower cap that been donated, but brought it back because it was far too big. Only it wasn't a shower cap; it was one of those covers for the bottom of a bird cage to catch seeds and other detritus. I was in hysterics...

One of my best loved Christmas presents last year was a ssshower cap. It replaced a very well worn hotel freebie. It feels quite glam wearing my fancy shower cap! Grin

@Livingthecovidaloca those look really cool, but are they based in the US ? All prices in USD.

Pack of 2 clear spotty ones from Superdrug are my go to. I found the elastic on the Boots ones stretched too much whereas the Superdrug ones hold their shape.

MyEnormousTurnip · 22/09/2020 22:33

I get mine from Primark. £1.50. Towering lined which seems fancy. Nice thick material and decent elastic. Plus cute designs.

WhereAreWeNow · 23/09/2020 09:08

I got DD a really nice one in T K Maxx recently. They had a good selection and this one is extra big to accommodate big hair (DD has super long, thick hair). They had nice designs too.

BigBirdsbird · 23/09/2020 09:27

Tiger do a spotty one which is excellent

wizzywig · 23/09/2020 09:32

@Livingthecovidaloca never knew that kind of thing existed!

Livingthecovidaloca · 23/09/2020 10:39

I think DH got mine from somewhere like cult beauty...
But have found them on Net a porter...

Crikey, £40 is a lot for a shower cap. I’m really fussy about them (sensory issues I think). I like them to have a cotton outer layer, so not thin and plasticky, and not thin tight elastic. I’ve had good ones from Cath Kidston and from a local chemist.

Livingthecovidaloca · 23/09/2020 19:26

These ones feel lovely... though at that price it’s definitely a shower cap for life!

fitbciz1 · 23/09/2020 20:15

If anyone is large of head then I wouldn’t recommend the shhhowercap. It’s beautiful but far too tight Sad

ArranBound · 23/09/2020 20:27

I'd love a shower cap, too, but find they're always pretty tight and leave my hair a squished & flattened mess. I'm still on the lookout for an extra large cap.

SundayReilly · 23/09/2020 21:43

TKMaxx here too
Other purchases have been too small big head and big hair.
