What does a good skin care routine look like?

Now on the cusp of my 40s I think I need to step up my skin care. I use a face wash but not sure it’s having a major effect plus a moisturising cream. I have quite dry skin, plus some blackheads on my nose, plus some marionette lines by my mouth. I feel a bit overwhelmed on what to look for. So any help on what to put into my routine would be great. Budget is middling I guess unless it’s something amazing.

For my skincare routine I cleanse my face, use toner, a serum, then moisturiser, once in the morning and before bed. You could try a facewash that is designed for dry skin, maybe the Body Shop vitamin e one. They have a toner in the same range. The toner preps your skin for the rest of your skincare routine by balancing the pH level of your skin and closing pores. 🙂 A serum with hylauronic acid can help with dryness too. The Ordinary and Revolution do one. Use a moisturiser after the serum has absorbed into your skin. 🙂
