Mascara on lower lashes

How the blooming heck does anyone manage to do this well!
I look much better if my lower lashes are coated / hit every time I try I end up with massive black smudges.
Any tips for lower lash mascara application?

Nope. Even just the ends of the upper lashes and I have panda eyes after a few hours!

SueblueNZ · 19/09/2020 22:56

This was always such a drama for me, moreso given my lashes are blonde/white and I had to poke the mascara wand under my glasses.
Now I home dye my lashes every 3 or 4 weeks. I do the upper lashes as well but the dye focus is on the lower as I still use mascara on the top lashes.

I find it depends on the undereye concealer you use. Some seem to make mascara stick to them and some don't!

Have you used a powder under your eyes? Think it is called banana powder x

I don’t do my bottom lashes but have you seen this?

Tint them instead?

Blondiney · 20/09/2020 11:50

I don't bother, only have about 3 lashes on the bottom. We really need a rolly eyes emoji.

SymphonyofShadows · 20/09/2020 12:30

I don’t. I was told in a make-up session I went to that over 40’s shouldn’t, as it ‘drags the face down’. Not sure that’s true but I’m too cackhanded to make it work

ArranBound · 20/09/2020 12:36

I have a pixi bottom lash mascara. It's got a very thin brush that makes applying the mascara easier. I'm pretty sure other brands do something similar.

FrancoBranco · 20/09/2020 12:47

How are you putting the mascara on?

It works if you scrape the end of the wand on top of the bottle to remove the excess, then hold the wand vertically (not horizontally like you'd do for the upper lashes) and gently move it from side to side to coat the lower lashes.

I look like a spider if I apply mascara to top and bottom so I just apply to the top and I like INIKA which is one by a vegan brand that nourishes the lashes and hasn't smudged on me yet. In place of mascara lower lid I just use a tiny Space NK brush to apply a subtle colour in the right hand corner along but less than half way. That is enough definition for me with the upper lashes defined with a natural look not glamourised for daytime. For evening then two coats and more definition and shimmer etc.

The Clinique underlash mascara linked above definitely works for me. I have very pale lashes and it’s made such a difference.
I only discovered it recently and have used it everyday since I bought it last month - It has a tiny brush which makes it very easy to apply and so far I’ve had no panda eyes at all. It seems totally smudge resistant but is easy to remove at the end of the day.

I very rarely wear mascara but when I do I never put it on my lower lashes -it makes me look more knackered.
