Hip measurement for online shopping

Hello,

I am about to try and buy some trousers online and given that I am pear shaped, I am not sure where exactly to measure my hips. I have attached a picture, I am aware that the "tapes" are not straight as they kept movin when taking the picture. Should I measure:
-A. Yellow tape, i.e.where my hipbone is
-B. Red tape. Widest part of bum
-C. White tape. Upper thigh, given that this is actually wider than hip area.

I have looked online, but still confused 😵!

Thanks a lot.

B I think. Read somewhere that it should be approx 8" from waist.

My money is on B the red one.

Is there advice online that would help? Perhaps a measuring guide for Next or whatever company it is you are buying from?

I would say white tape. I thought your hips were meant to be your wisest point. You have a fab figure by the way!

Miseryisabutterfly · 19/09/2020 17:45

*widest 🙈

SpeedofaSloth · 19/09/2020 17:46

I would have said C.

Thanks everyone.

Actually one of the shops I'm looking at says "fullest part, usually over your bottom or at the top of your thighs" so I think I'll go with C, even though I think the size it's giving me is too big...

It is always the widest part. If you are ordering online especially, you will need to know that a pair of jeans or a pencil skirt will fit the widest part.
