Chicwish and Shein

Just wondering if anybody has bought from these companies? I've seen their ads in my Facebook and wondering how legit they are? They seem to have lovely pieces but shein in particular seems quite low in price!
Thank you

I've bought from shein a couple of times. The items I've got are of good quality. However, I would recommend reading the reviews on the item first.

Been caught out a few times by nice fb adverts by chicwish but they never look the same. Cheap Chinese clothes. Almost impossible to return.
I wouldn’t risk it.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 17/09/2020 11:37

Just Google "nameofcompany reviews". If the products don't arrive, are not the size or quality you expect, or you just don't want them, it's likely to be more hassle / expense to return than your original costs. Nearly all of these too-cheap-to-be-true clothing companies are Chinese distribution portals, not manufacturers. If you want to see if their products are "theirs", reverse image search them. You'll probably find the same photo being used globally by lots of different registered companies.

It's a risk to order. Sometimes it'll be great, sometimes not. You just need to be aware of the risk and decide if you can afford it.

I have bought things from Shein. It's legit, but the quality can vary from.item to item. It is fast fashion, it isn't going to be a wardrobe classic with years of wear in it.

Personally I've been quite pleased with what I've bought there (just kids stuff) but a friend has vowed never to buy anything from them again.

I probably won't buy anything else as I'm trying to avoid fast fashion and buy items with a longer life and/or second hand market.

I bought a few summer bits from Shein recently, as I just needed some new comfy clothes for wfh and I liked the look of them. I only bought things that had photos in the reviews so I could see how they looked on a human, and only spent what I could afford to lose if they were crap.

Overall I was happy - the quality is not great and the fit on a couple is iffy - but they served the purpose. Out of two tops and two dresses, probably only one dress will get worn for going out - the rest are just comfy home clothes.

I really dislike the fast fashion element, but I couldn't find anything I liked online from better quality shops. The style this year has been terrible!

Agreed - I got a jumper from Chicwish ages ago - ok jumper but very fast fashion - Shein not bothered but seen someone else had bought from there.

To be fair most of what I buy if it's from China - like some of the Ebay dresses - if they're nice when they arrive then great but they are what they are to me and I do think you get what you pay for.

I've bought several things, quality is hit and kiss but really pleased with the things I've kept. Its £2.50 per return parcel so for the cost its often worth a try and ordering. The sizes do vary though so check each item individually.

WowStarsWow · 17/09/2020 14:40

Their ethical and environmental credentials are horrendous. I would never buy from any of these cheap Chinese sites.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 17/09/2020 14:56

I love the styling on Chicwish but I don't trust the quality or the ethics, and so I try to recreate the looks with things I've already got plus a few new things.

halfpasteleven · 17/09/2020 21:31

Thanks for the replies.. I think it's worthwhile remembering "you get what you pay for".
I'll leave them I think- returns are hassle I can do without atm and what I'm buying I need to be able to wear straight away.

I spent hours going through all the items on Shein and adding tons to my shopping cart but it felt so wrong to buy things that are so cheap that I couldn't bring myself to actually complete my purchase. I can't really afford the ultra expensive "ethical" brands but I draw the line at 4 euro dresses. I dont even want to envision under what conditions those were made.

goose1964 · 17/09/2020 22:12

The photos are stolen and cheap copies are made. There are loads of scam companies with amazing photos on Facebook , all scams.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 18/09/2020 12:37

Shein are ok, i have lots of stuff from there and as long as i have checked the sizing looked at the reviews photos too and zoomed up on the item to gauge the material then almost all have been great, cheap but great. Probably had two items that weren't so good but overall i have been extremely happy.

^ this.

I'm glad you're not buying from there OP. What fast fashion does environmentally and in terms of not having any controls around slave labour is appalling.

There are lots of high street brands that have decent anti slavery policies.
