Sorel are they any good?

I always wear trainers but now that we have a dog I need to walk her and hate wellies! Sorels seek like a good compromise. Do you like them? Which model I should go for? I'm eyeing the Carnival model.

I have some waterproof Sorel boots. I think they might be Witney's. I love them. Easily as comfy as trainers and completely waterproof and cosy.

Did you find them true to size? I've read that different model come smaller than others

My friend got a pair they were really lovely but didn’t last very long. She got hers for dog walking too, think they did one winter.

cupofdecaf · 17/09/2020 11:30

I've just got them. Can't comment on wear yet but size wise- for a shoe I'm normally a 6 but would go 7 for walking boots. Their 6 fits correctly. With socks.
I ordered via amazon wardrobe so I had a week I check they fitted, if not I could return them without being charged. I thought it was a good way to try shoes at the moment, normally I'd want to try them on in a shop.

I have some Whitneys too (the version with fur, not the other ones), easily the best winter boots I've ever owned. Great for walking on snow and ice, warm down to at least -10 (tested in Canada!) and waterproof. As pp said, just like wearing trainers.

I've had one of the other models, maybe Tivoli? They look similar but much chunkier and less comfortable. The soles might be better for muddy fields if you're dog walking though.

I had to go up a whole size both times, I think they're known for coming up small.

SavageBeauty73 · 17/09/2020 11:35

I LOVE mine for dog walking. I had to go up a size.

Fressia123 · 17/09/2020 11:46

@cupofdecaf and @SavageBeauty73 what models do you wear?

Yes, mine are. I think they were from the children's dept, but came in a size 6 that fit perfectly. I can't say how long they will last as this year will be the second winter, but I wore them daily last year and they are still in good nick.
SavageBeauty73 · 17/09/2020 12:01

@Fressia123 I have the Explorer Joan boot in Grey. Searched around and got a good discount on them. I'm usually a 6 but got a 7 (however I have wide foot and arthritis in one foot so the bigger size was more comfortable).

I sprayed protection and wore them all winter and they seem in good nick still.

Sorel Women's Caribou Winter Boots

MadisonMontgomery · 17/09/2020 12:50

I have the caribou - I do like them, they are very warm and perfect for snow, but I find them a bit clunky for everyday winter dog walking.

BlackberrySky · 17/09/2020 12:55

I absolutely love my Sorel boots and can't recommend them highly enough. I have the waterproof snow boots. They are really warm and lightweight. Mine have stood up to several holidays in properly snowy places with ease.

Lottie7777 · 17/09/2020 13:19

I’ve got the Sorel Joan explorers. Got a 7 and am normally a 6 and they fit. I bought for dog walking but they are far too nice to get muddy so I ended up getting low wellies but keeping the Sorels anyway. I got them half price on amazon last week.

Nyancat · 17/09/2020 16:08

I have the carnival boots and found them a bit small, ordered half size up and they fit well.

Fressia123 · 17/09/2020 19:59

Thanks @Nyancat that's helpful as I'm a 6.5 but tend to be a 7 in American brands.

I’ve got Rylee and they are very short and wide.

Oldraver · 18/09/2020 10:06

I've got some Ryle and while they aren't my most comfortable boots they were bought for standing at cold wet bus tops and walking to work

They are lovely and cosy I tend to wear warm though not thick socks
