Where are your sheepskin slippers from?

Mine are from Celtic & Co and have finally given up the ghost after two years hard service.

I'm on my second pair of Shepherds - the first lasted about three years. Best slippers I've ever had. I think these are the ones I have.

Bagelsandbrie · 12/09/2020 17:54

Can you wash them? I fancy a pair but I like the fact that with the normal tesco ones I buy I can just bung them in the wash to freshen them up...

Dilbertian · 12/09/2020 18:05

If you get proper sheepskin with natural fleece linings (not a whisper of synthetic fleece) they rarely need 'freshening up'. Wool is naturally deodorising. Dh's slippers don't smell, despite the fact that he lives in them. In summer, when he wears them barefoot (yes, he wears warm winter slippers all year round Grin) they sometimes smell a tiny bit, but i just turn them inside out and peg them on the line, and they're fine after a day in full sunshine.

Good quality natural fibre garments are a revelation after synthetics.

I’ve got sheepers. I’m very pleased with them and they were much cheaper than Uggs/Celtic and Co but I only got them a few months ago so I can’t vouch for their longevity.

CeibaTree · 12/09/2020 18:15

I've had my Celtic & co ones for about 3 years and I think I'll need a new pair soon as they are getting a bit worn - and I'll be buying the same ones again as I love them :)

BikeRunSki · 12/09/2020 18:17

Celtic and Co. 8 years old and going strong.

SingingSands · 12/09/2020 18:18

TK Maxx several years ago and still going strong. This is the time of year they start stocking them.

I have machine washed my Celtic ones 2 or 3 times, nit because they smell (as per pp, natural fleece doesn’t), but because I’ve split something on them.
curlytops21 · 12/09/2020 19:02

I'm now looking at the Celtic and Co mule slippers and can't see any photos of the sole. Can anyone advise whether these can be worn outside? It says "durable sole" but not much more than that...
Thanks

Trumpton · 12/09/2020 23:11

Oh my Celtic and Co used to get really maltreated and came up smiling every time . I am a bugger for wearing them outside !

Pombearbuffet · 12/09/2020 23:20

I wear mine outside too. I basically wear them all day every day. I like the sole of their booties as it’s smooth so doesn’t pick up dirt.

I had a great pair of Just Sheepskin from TKMaxx which lasted years and then bought an identical pair as replacement which split along the sole after 2 months so reluctant to buy them again.

Bubbletrouble43 · 12/09/2020 23:47

I'm on my second pair of celtic Co slippers, in both cases the wool covering the sheepskin was holey and buggered within months. I'm getting non wool covered ones next time, or maybe uggs.

StCharlotte · 13/09/2020 08:49

Skechers. The raised sole is beneficial and they happily go in the wash. They're like walking on air.

I have Ugg and John Lewis, the Ugg ones are very long lasting although I find the top of my feet get cold as they are moccasin style

LoriesGar · 13/09/2020 09:49

@Lucked I think the Just Sheepskin slippers at TK Maxx must have been a cheaper ‘made for TK Maxx’ version. We brought some for our Christmas PJs, and they were already showing wear at the heel in late February and worn through in April. We brought some Canterbury Sheepskin slippers with hard soles in NZ on holiday in 2016, and they lasted three years so really disappointed with Just Sheepskin.

We like the look of Skyeskins but out of stock in our sizes.

BringMeTea · 13/09/2020 11:42

Shepherd of Sweden. Lovely, great sole too. Size DOWN as they give a lot.

Imicola · 13/09/2020 12:14

Also Celtic and co. My first pair lasted about 5 years until DD vomited all down my leg into them. That was a sad day.

Avelosa · 13/09/2020 13:29

I’ve got a pair of Ugg slippers that I was given as a Christmas present by MIL. I never would have spent that much on slippers myself, but I love them and now wouldn’t be without them

Dilbertian · 13/09/2020 15:23

If the top of your foot gets cold (and you don't want bootees) try men's style mocassins. They are often higher in the vamp than women's style. But you may need to size down one size.

Dh lives in his Drapers moccasins. He changes into them as soon as he gets home, and never goes barefoot. Goes outdoors in them, too. A pair lasts about 5y before it starts showing its age, and then gets demoted to 'spare' when I give him a new pair at Christmas.

EmmaStone · 13/09/2020 16:55

Ugg boots. Have had for quite a few years, still going strong and can wear them outside to shuffle to garden when necessary. On the basis of how good they've been, I even succumbed to buying DD a pair last Xmas (her feet have finally stopped growing), still look like new.

Blownaway22 · 13/09/2020 17:21

I have Ugg Ansley's which need replaced after 10/11 years. Will replace like with like, worth every penny. Then I have a pair from Celtic & Co, same age, which have a soft sole and I guess I just wear them in the evenings. They're still fine, look a bit grubby but warm and comfy and I love them.

Squiz81 · 13/09/2020 17:29

I’ve got a pair of Celtic & co that I leave at my parents for when I’m there, I bought them as ‘seconds‘ and the stitching is slightly splitting on top of one of them, but they are very warm and comfy.

The ones I’m currently wearing at home are Fat Face, I pick them up when they put them in the sale.

flapjackfairy · 13/09/2020 18:24

I always buy snowpaw ones. Lovely and warm and last really well.with a v thick sole. And I have the worlds coldest feet but the mules keep my feet lovely and toasty.

I always wait till they are on offer on groupon which they are at present. 20 quid a pair but they sell.out really quickly
I have just ordered a new pair thanks to this thread.

Trumpton · 13/09/2020 21:26

I bought Snowpaw last year but am ging back to Celtic &Co this year .
They have not worn well and the lining has matted .
