Facial rollers any good?

So, I've had a lot of ads pop up lately for rose quartz or jade rollers. Was wondering if they actually did anything as the idea of them sounds rather relaxing but I don't want to bother buying if it won't actually improve my skin.

What are people's thoughts?

I received a jade roller in my look fantastic beauty box - I quite like it as feels lovely and cooling on the skin. I've been using it to apply my serums evenly, but who knows if it's actually doing anything! I like to think it is so that's all that matters Grin

That probably isnt very helpful though!

I was also looking at these but the dermaroller (spiky?) ones? Very keen to hear experiences!

I seen a jade (probably not real jade) roller the other day for about £1. I can’t remember if it was in Poundland or b&m or home bargains but they had lots and I was tempted because it was cheap. I didn’t because I know it’s something I would use a few times and then forget about.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 11/09/2020 21:57

The genuine jade ones work to temporarily reduce puffiness / "improve the appearance" (sorry - it's always stated, I assume as there's no "actual" change), as they are cold. I presume it would work with any other cold material.

So, they do work, but it's temporary, and the results can probably be achieved with other methods, but... I quite like the sensation, it's relaxing and it doesn't do any harm.

They’re actually great for headaches (hangovers) Pop in the fridge, then roll over your temples.

That makes them even more tempting Grin

I've been using a rose quartz roller for a year. I don't see any benefit but it feels good on the skin when you leave it in the fridge.

I used a derma roller a few years ago. I had the smallest spikes. I hated it very uncomfortable. Though I have sensitive skin.

WoolySock · 12/09/2020 08:43

I have a 0.5mm dermaroller from Amazon, I used it twice a week before applying serum (vit c, retinol, hyaluronic) and it really helped reduce my pores, I haven't used it for ages now but should get back into it.

Someonesayroadtrip · 12/09/2020 08:47

I've used a derma roller. Not painful. Not tried a jade one though.

PennyDreadfuI · 12/09/2020 08:47

Useless for skincare, excellent for hangovers.

I have a Rose quartz one! Feels so lovely and cool. I’ve only used it a couple of times (and I’ve had it a month...) so can’t actually vouch for its practical effects! I can see how it might de-puff a bit. I was given it as a gift; would I spend good money on one myself? Probably not no, but it’s a fun Beauty thing to play with if you have time.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/09/2020 13:57

I got a rose quartz one recently as a gift. I keep it in the fridge and have a quick cooling face roll when I am rummaging around in the fridge for things at mealtimes. It feels very nice.

Jigglyjugs · 12/09/2020 14:42

I have a dermaroller I bought on a whim in TKMaxx and actually really like it. It just makes everything seem a bit more plump and youthful, plus it helps product sink in better. I also have a jade roller, which again feels lovely but doesn't have a long term effect on the skin. Does help wake up tired (wine) eyes though Grin

Thesheerrelief · 12/09/2020 18:04

I have a jade one. It feels very soothing, particularly for sinus headaches
