Covering rosacea

Hoping for some hints!

Over the summer I have developed roseacea on my cheek. It looks like a rash and sometimes there are bumps under the skin. Looks like someone has slapped me!

I’m not sure of triggers, maybe the extra sun I’ve had, could be booze or caffeine, although my intake of those hasn’t particularly changed. Could just be a hormone thing (I’m 43). Or stress, my lockdown was very stressful. So it is hard to pin down a trigger!!

Anyway, I currently use Boing concealer and Bare Minerals loose powder foundation. I just feel like it isn’t working for me. I need a new foundation. For years I avoided liquid foundation because it caused breakouts, but I know things are better now.

So I’m looking for tips for a nice, light foundation/concealer that can help even out my roseacea patch.

Thanks!!

If you google Lisa Eldridge, she does a video on Rosacea and foundations she recommends. One is Estee Lauder Double Wear - personally its a bit too thick for me but I like the Double Wear Lite. I also like one called Sleek foundation which is light / easy to apply so you can have a really light application on the "normal" parts of your face and slightly more over the rosacea.

Thank you! I’m off to watch those videos and will check out those foundations 😀

I got a tube of rosalique. It's a green concealer which changes colour on application. I only use a tiny bit (just the end of my nose that's affected).

Also check out Talontedlex on instagram she's great. I've had Rosacea for years and recently started The Ordinary AZE LAIC ACID Suspension 10% Bright Skin Whitening Face Cream, and it's really helped.

I love IT cosmetics byebye redness.

I use EL Doublewear concealer just on the rosacea areas.

I have rosacea and if I am having a flare up I clean my face for bed, use a cotton pad with a little 3% hydrogen peroxide on to wipe over the area and then add my metrogel. I only do this once or twice because it can be quite rough on the skin but it can stop a flare up in its tracks.

I had rosacea for years, I don't wear make up so can't advise on that, but Soolantra cream got rid of it in 3 weeks after 10 years. It's pricey, you have to get it from an online pharmacy. I paid £42 for a tube, and the same again for a second one - I haven't finished the second one, I've now stopped using it and my skin has stayed really clear.

Try phoera foundation from amazon, it covers my red patches well

it's my nose too, that is affected. It's very frustrating.

As a PP said, try treating it rather than covering it (though I did that for years). 8 weeks of Soolantra once a day cleared mine up permanently and I'm now confident to go make-up free.

Caplin · 11/09/2020 13:21

Ooh, just checked and I can get soolantra on prescription here! Making an appointment next week!!

My doctor said he'd never heard of solantra when I asked about it???

bowtieandheels · 11/09/2020 14:35

Agree with a poster above. Soolantra has cured my rosacea almost completely! I went to my GP, he hadn't heard of it but prescribed it for me so I got it for the price of the prescription. Def try it out.

BlueThistles · 11/09/2020 14:37

I googled Soolantra, looks positive, there was reference to something called Horse Paste 🤔

I'm going to order Soolantra online.

thank you
