Benefit Brow Bar: any good?

I usually go to a local cheap & cheerful place to get my brows threaded but I fancy a post-lockdown blitz on my eye area: brow shape, and lash & brow tint. I could go to my usual salon but they're not very pampering, and it can be difficult to communicate what you want (language issues). There's a Benefit boutique not far from me in London and they do brow shape analysis etc but it's about 50% more expensive. My eyebrows are important to me so I don't mind paying the extra for a better experience and result, but is the BBB worth it?

I don’t rate my local one at all, but it might just be mine is shit!!

ChristinaRussell · 09/09/2020 13:26

Where is that, TeddyIsaHe?

I once had mine done at a BBB and came out looking like I had two large cockroaches pinned above my eyes. They're quite keen on Big Brows in my experience Grin so I'd advise caution

ChristinaRussell · 09/09/2020 14:07

My nightmare would be to come out with thin arches so Big Brows might not be a problem Grin

I had my brows mapped and neatened up at Benefit in Boots, Reading last year. They did a good job.

PatsyPet · 09/09/2020 17:35

The only problem I have found is they had high staff turnover. I like to have the same person. Also the product pushing finally made me go elsewhere.

Small local place often good as they get to know you and your face etc

PatsyPet · 09/09/2020 17:36

Posted too soon, I have had good and bad experiences. The inconsistency wasn’t great

Bluebell79 · 09/09/2020 21:42

I had an ok experience however they have a high staff turnover, push the products on you and there’s no patch test. Also it’s expensive, the Asian brow places are brilliant even with the language barrier always better results and much cheaper.

FredaFox · 09/09/2020 21:44

I always go to benefit, I’m fair do get them tinted and waxed
With the tint some are better than others but part of it is my eye ties are blonde and I think it makes them nervous!
I’ve tried cheaper places but here is the best
I’m in Manchester

Superdrug is the best place I found. They thread rather than wax and I've always come out with a good shape and dye.
They aren't very pampering though - you are basically getting eyebrows done in the middle of a shop. But they don't try to sell you products and they are not expensive.
I had mine done once at benefit and it was okay but I found waxing to not be as precise as threading.

Flyinggeese · 10/09/2020 09:22

Hi OP I rate my local salon over BBB (Manchester Boots). A much more natural finish and no product sell.

I don’t see brows as a pampering type of service so don’t mind it being pretty straightforward. Do you mean being offered a coffee etc in the salon, magazines while you wait etc? BBB don’t do any of that either.

ChristinaRussell · 10/09/2020 14:44

@Flyinggeese no, I don't mean that. I think I'm hoping that given they do the 'brow mapping' thing, they will actually look at you and take time to create a shape/tint that's tailored to your face and colouring. The place I generally go to can be hit and miss depending on which therapist you get - it's staffed by south Asians (maybe Bangladeshi? not sure) and whilst it's easy to communicate with some of them, with others there is a language barrier and you do feel like you're on a bit of a conveyor belt. The BBB nearest me is a standalone salon in the City of London so I wouldn't be in the middle of a shop (which I'd hate!) and I'm presuming that they won't be super-busy at the moment and wouldn't rush me.

I have used them. They are no different to any other waxing place. There’s nothing different or special about it.

ChristopherTracy · 10/09/2020 15:30

I use my local one and have the same person each time, they are friendly and tint and wax well. No complaints and not intimidating at all.

JaceLancs · 10/09/2020 21:42

I wasn’t impressed - much prefer my local beauty salon
I only tried benefit bar as was given a birthday voucher

FredaFox · 10/09/2020 23:40

@Flyinggeese yesss Manchester Boots!!! That’s the one I like!

MrDarcysMa · 11/09/2020 08:14

It depends entirely which staff member you get. Some are better than others. And their staff turnover is high- I had one girl I loved. Next time I went in she had moved jobs and was working on a different counter !

Newgirls · 11/09/2020 08:20

I like the speed of benefit. Quick patch test, wax and done in 5-10 min.

But I hate the product selling. Also expensive but I go as can always get a last min appt.

ilikebooksandplants · 11/09/2020 17:40

I get my brows done at benefit counters as I quite like the shape they end up with. I go to Covent Garden (either boots or the boutique). They do try and up sell you products but I don’t really mind that (and often end up treating myself!).
