£615 for possibly the ugliest trainers I’ve ever seen

Sock like knit, beige, textured oversized sole. What’s not to like?

Though I fully admit I’m not the most stylish person myself and possibly these are bang on trend (one which has passed me by). I think they look like camel hooves!

I don't like them, but they look like they might be really comfortable.

If they cost about £25, I would possibly consider wearing something similar when I have to walk a long way (I'm talking 10K+) but I think it's ridiculous to treat them as a fashion item. I'm kind of curious to know what the sort of people who'd pay £600 for them would wear with them - equally overpriced tracky bottoms?

I was jostled towards someone wearing a black pair a few months ago. She looked terrified and exclaimed with alarm while jumping out of the way. maybe dont spend a months rent on shit shoes then , or keep them in a glass cabinet in the front room.

emptycup · 07/09/2020 08:25

Money can't buy style 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lamentations · 07/09/2020 09:00

I guessed they would be these too!

So far I've seen a yummy mummy type wearing the nude pair on the school run and a bloke in a black pair.

The nude ones remind me of when ice skaters wear thick tights that cover their boots.

SpectacledWolf · 07/09/2020 10:09

OMG they're awful! And I like ugly trainers...

They're like the Innovations catalogue meets Star Trek.

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 07/09/2020 10:30

They’re foul. Maybe the designers at Balenciaga (are they Balenciaga??) are sitting around having a right old laugh about anyone being silly enough to buy them.

Do you think maybe with utterly-ugly fashion items, the reason people are drawn to them is as if to prove they themselves are gorgeous enough to get away with deliberately making themselves look unattractive? I can sort of imagine a young and extraordinarily beautiful person looking ok in those shoes whereas the rest of us ordinary mortals would obviously look ridiculous.

Eww

AngeloMysterioso · 07/09/2020 10:49

Apparently ugly fashion is a whole thing now...

They're super bad but everything Balenciaga makes at the moment is fugly. I don't get streetwear really though, not sure I am the target market!

In normal times I work round the corner from UAL with lots of young fashion types and see a lot of sneaker monstrosities. Basically as trainers go the more it looks like a neon fungus has grown on your foot the more fashun it is.

ShalomToYouJackie · 07/09/2020 13:43

Gross. Saw a celebs daughter who I think is about 10 wearing them on Insta this morning. They look like socks.

spiderlight · 07/09/2020 16:50

Those look like something you'd get on the NHS!!

speakfriendandenter · 07/09/2020 16:58

Can I add these as an uglier contender?!

Balenciaga has never been the same since Nicholas Ghesquiere left.

Mellonsprite · 07/09/2020 17:27

They’re having a laugh, you’d have to pay me £625 for them.
The yeezy ones look like The shoe covers (plastic bags) that pool attendants wear over their shoes near the pool.

HeronLanyon · 07/09/2020 17:32

Monstrously hideous.
Even worse than yeeezys (so?!) and that is saying something.

JacobReesMogadishu · 07/09/2020 17:39

Yes, they reminded me a bit of all the shit Kanye West Yeezey stuff. He’s a fan of that horrid beige shade.

What are you supposed to wear them with?

Ken1976 · 07/09/2020 20:19

My 15 year old granddaughter has asked her mum for balenciagas for one of her Christmas presents . I really hope that they aren't that ugly !

SapphireSeptember · 07/09/2020 20:48

@speakfriendandenter They look like seashells, why the fuck would you wear those on your feet though? Shock Grin
