I’m just about to get my engagement ring and would love to see all of yours.

If you know your rings specs that would be great too as my head is fuddled with them all!

@Fuckinellitsme @GreyHare your rings are gorgeous!!! ❤️

Babypug · 10/09/2020 14:55

Wedding and engagement ring from Tiffany's, just waiting for the eternity to finish it off. It's the best colour, clarity etc but it sparkles and makes me smile!

.5ct oval, 2x .26 hearts. From memory the oval is 1 below perfect in all characteristics iyswim, hearts are pretty much flawless.

Minimal claw setting, so held in tension.

Enjoy the process!!

I work in the jewellery trade and of course the main thing is to choose something you like as (hopefully) you will wear it for a long time.
Things to be mindful of -
Some coloured stones are softer, (diamonds are hardest on a mosh scale) and more liable to rub or chip if worn repeatedly (Emeralds, aquamarine, opals and tanzanites I would say are less suitable for everyday wear than sapphires and rubies)

If you have a cluster or shaped ring, you need to consider how it will sit against a wedding band. (Lots can be made to fit or you could have a shaped wedding band but if you want a trad wedding band it might be something to think about)

If you're getting a new ring, I would definitely recommend platinum over white gold as gold is very expensive at the moment, and platinum us harder wearing and doesnt need replating.

Diamonds are priced per carat, and the price per carat rises as stones get bigger ie a 1ct diamond will be more than double the price of a 0.50ct diamond of the same spec. If you wanted 1ct but it was slightly over budget, worth looking for a 0.90ct which would be minimally different in mm size but probably a good bit cheaper.

Hope this hasnt added more confusion!!
(I'll post a pic of my ring when I get in)

Mine was hand made to sit flat against my wedding ring. It’s also why I wear my eternity ring under my wedding band. Its 0.9 carat oval claw set in platinum. Stone is D colour, excellent cut and VVS1 so pretty flawless.

So sorry I totally forgot I’d posted this as when I first looked there were no replies.

So much good advice and loads of absolutely stunning rings. I love how different they all are and how everyone CLEARLY loves their own the best.

I’ve made my decision on mine. It’s a pear trilogy! Didn’t see any in the thread at all. Pear in the middle and a pear each side. I want all the rings though Grin

@Iborgia I was sooooo torn on the pear and oval but decided on the pear once I saw them both on my finger. I love love love yours though.

Ooh, thank you, I love mine too, glad you've made a choice. It will bring you years of happiness. Honestly, I'm pretty sure it's not because it's the money, if you find one that just leaps out at you, it's like carrying around your favourite painting, you just appreciate it every day!

Paquitalaflor · 10/09/2020 17:47

Princess cut diamond in platinum. Eternity ring with teeny sapphires and diamonds so they fit together. Wedding ring is left off as it is a bit too tight!

Yespresh · 10/09/2020 17:52

Here’s mine. A Columbian emerald and diamonds.

Yespresh · 10/09/2020 17:54

I have been wearing every day for 28 years so no need to worry about it being a soft stone. Emeralds are hardy.

Judeslife · 10/09/2020 18:09

Mine's an emerald cut - love it but it gets dirty so often

So pleased I got rub over setting, the stone sits high so it still catches ie on the edge of table.

Mine is antique 1920s, white gold without the rhodium plating as I like the colour and pink sapphire. It has taken quite a bashing over the years I slightly bent the wedding band catching it on a door still not sure how and it used to have a very unusual opal in it before I dropped it and shattered the opal 🤦‍♀️
You have made me clean it though OP although it could still do with more.
@paradyning here is a better pic of the eternity band together with the engagement ring! I think I want another eternity band to put on the other side of the ring at some point... poor DH 😅
Thanks for the closer look. It's so lovely.

@Yespresh Beautiful!

Tootletum · 10/09/2020 22:48

This is really making me wish I had got to choose mine! I had it foisted upon me.

MrsH497 · 10/09/2020 22:55

Love a ring thread! Some stunning rings!

Mine is a 0.50 round brilliant cut. Husband picked it and I love it.
Wedding ring is round diamonds and sapphires. Our wedding colour was navy and we designed the wedding ring. As we've just had our first child we've talked about an eternity ring but wouldn't know what would go!

Wow that it's just beautiful 😻
StCharlotte · 10/09/2020 23:03

Engagement ring is Victorian - sapphire and diamond halo or "flower" style. Wedding ring is rose gold. It was my mother's - she died shortly before my wedding. The other ring was a birthday present a few years ago but DH surprised me with an actual eternity ring on our anniversary last week which is being re-sized (second picture).
