I’m just about to get my engagement ring and would love to see all of yours.

If you know your rings specs that would be great too as my head is fuddled with them all!

How exciting, such a fun time but yes can be very confusing as there's so much choice!

Surprised this thread hasn't had any replies and normally people love a ring thread. I know I do. I searched out old ones when I was trying to decide what sort of thing I wanted.

I can't take a photo at the moment as mine is away being resized.

Mine is a sapphire in platinum. I started off knowing I wanted platinum as a metal and that I wanted a stone with colour. There are so many pretty options, but I went with a good quality sapphire as they are hardy enough for everyday wear.

Hope you get some more replies and some pictures to look at OP.

We got mine made, I'm not too sure of all of the specs. It's a few years old now so can't really remember. It's white gold, round brilliant diamonds totalling 1ct (I think).

I love my ring but regret that it’s a bit scratchy and can easily catch on jumpers and pull threads. If I was choosing again I’d want one with a smoother surface

Tryingtogetitright · 07/09/2020 13:03

Mine's 0.5 carat in 18 carat white gold. It's illusion set (you can obviously see the joins in the photos) which means it can't be resized. It isn't exactly what I'd have chosen but I love it because DH proposed with it. The plating has come off over the years but I quite like the new colour and doubt I'll get it dipped. I never take my wedding ring off but take my engagement ring off to sleep.

Ooh I love yours.

This is mine, which also limits wedding ring choice due to shape.

Beautiful rings! I love all the variety! Have fun choosing OP!

thegiverofstars · 07/09/2020 13:14

I found one I took a while ago. I didn't want anything that sat too high or could catch on things. This sits nice and low and the rub over setting means it's very smooth. The shape means it doesn't sit flush with the band, the designer offered to take a notch out of the underside of the engagement ring, but the gap doesn't bother me at all.

Excuse wrinkly hands. Mine is platinum princess cut diamond. I can’t remember the carat size maybe 0.7? Definitely D colour with 2 very slight inclusions.

Oh what an exciting time for you!!

Any excuse to show mine off... I adore it 😍 Antique, early 20s, platinum, old brilliant cut trilogy, about 0.75ct overall. I went with an eternity style wedding ring. This photo was from the first day I tried on wedding dresses a month after we got engaged 🥰

Mine's a small diamond, I think a third of a carat, in platinum with a rub over setting which has been great for everyday wear and it sits nicely against other rings. I did decide on a bit more bling ten years later with the eternity ring.

Mines a 1.3 carat diamond on a platinum band. I love how white and bright and sparkly it looks.

Have fun choosing yours OP! What sort of thing are you looking for - any ideas yet?

Oh congratulations, so much fun to choose a ring! 😄

Mine is a three stone ring, emerald cut. Set on a platinum band. Clarity S1 for the biggest stone (slight inclusion - but can't see even when magnified 10 times!), the 2 side stones are VS (very slightly inclusions - better quality than S1). Cut very good and F colored (colorless).

Middle one 2.5 carat and the side ones 0.5, total of 3.5. I love my ring, it's super sparkly in real life 😄

I have an emerald cut solitaire around 0.7 carat but very high quality cut, colour, clarity etc. I understand this is more important the fewer the facets of the cut (like and emerald cut). Something to consider is what you want to wear with it. I have a plain wedding band and it’s very hard to match diamond bands to emerald cuts without spending ££££.
Fast forward ten years and husband wanted to buy me an eternity ring and this posed a similar challenge, but we were fortunate to find an unusual design that complimented it, albeit not a true eternity ring.
I absolutely love my rings, especially the three together.
I guess my point is plan ahead a bit

user159 · 09/09/2020 13:05

I have a very traditional brilliant cut single diamond in a platinum setting. It's half a carat (but I have small fingers so looks bigger!) it's colour grade D and has very very slight inclusions. DH chose it for the surprise proposal, he said after he'd given it to me that if I wanted something bigger then we can change it but he went for quality over quantity and I'm so glad he did. Considering it's a plain stone and not an unusual design I get so many comments on how beautiful and sparkly it is Smile

timetest · 09/09/2020 15:43

Mine’s yellow 18carat gold with a three quarter carat princess cut stone.

These are mine, all heirlooms from my family. Wedding ring was my great nans, eternity ring was my nans and engagement ring was my mums. I love them all together.
All 9ct yellow gold. Both eternity ring and engagement ring stones are real diamonds. I love that they are all thin, about 2-2.5mm, as well so very comfy to wear all together. I never ever take any of them off so it's great they are so comfy.

Mine is a simulated diamond. That was my personal preference, more ethical (plus you can obviously get a much bigger one for your money!). Appreciate not everyone would want one of those though.
