I need to buy for a 40 year old that I don't know well, kind of secret Santa thing. Was thinking about Pillow Talk lipstick but just wondered if there's a luxe make up item for approx that price that might be better?

Pillow Talk doesn’t suit everyone, that’s a lie... it doesn’t suit me 😭

No other suggestions though I’m afraid

Oh 😔

You can get a neutral MAC or Urban Decay eyeshadow palette for just over £20 - John Lewis have got 10-15% off currently so would bring it down.

I’ve found Pillow Talk really suits fair skin with warm undertones if that describes your person!

Does it need to be makeup? I got a beautiful glass from Anthropologie gifted to me from my Secret Santa last year. It had my initial on it. I liked it so much I’ve given them as housewarming presents since. Think it was £14.

Scarf
Candles
Wine and chocolates
Vase
Cookery book
Diary for next year
Moleskin notebook
Bracelet

buckeejit · 05/09/2020 19:17

must it be makeup? I'd get a smelly candle and an electric hot water bottle

Dozer · 05/09/2020 19:19

Many people dislike receiving toiletries. A voucher would be far better IMO!

Dozer · 05/09/2020 19:20

If you don’t know them it’ll be v hard to guess their taste, so clothes, toiletries, smells etc are particularly tricky.

birkenstocks4ever · 06/09/2020 09:25

She's quite glam, likes higher end stuff. Thought one nice lipstick would be good idea. Thanks for the suggestions. Stupid bloody hen do gifts 😠

Nars orgasm blusher is beautiful and suits pretty much everyone. I've used it as a gift for a few people of different tones and they've all loved it.

TheIckabog · 06/09/2020 09:43

I wouldn’t do lipstick, I think it can be very personal given the choices of colours and formulas (matte vs cream etc).

Also, what is a hen do present? Not heard of that before!

TheFlis12345 · 06/09/2020 10:00

Chanel nail varnishes are lovely and just under £20.

birkenstocks4ever · 06/09/2020 10:13

@TheIckabog I'm going to a hen do afternoon tea - we've all had to pick a name out of a hat and buy for that person, something nice, not jokey. Meant to be an ice breaker I believe. Could be brilliant or all go horribly wrong!

I've gone with a 6 month magazine subscription and a nice candle. Hope it goes down well!

I'd love that OP. Good call!

buckeejit · 06/09/2020 10:39

Yes that's a nice gift, hope it goes well. I'd also stick in a packet of sweets or a nice chic bar, just for a little extra

MoltonSilver · 06/09/2020 10:46

I think a nice lipstick or a high end nail polish is a lovely gift.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/09/2020 16:47

Great choice. I'd love that Op

Scoleah · 06/09/2020 17:19

What about a look fantastic mystery box? £15 link here.

Absolutely20 · 06/09/2020 17:22

As if hen dos aren’t expensive enough! Shock

optimisticpessimist01 · 06/09/2020 18:58

optimisticpessimist01 · 06/09/2020 18:59

birkenstocks4ever · 06/09/2020 19:17
