What did I do wrong? Dyeing my eyelashes

Yesterday, for the first time, I used the Eylure kit to dye my lashes. Not as much of an effect as I'd hoped for, but hey-ho. But when I washed my face last night it all came off and I'm back to where I was.

Does anyone know how to make it work? I'm in a local lockdown area, so I can't have them done professionally.

Were they super clean to begin with - you need to remove all oil, otherwise the dye can't work.

You could try extending the processing time next time but go cautiously, overprocessing makes them all curly. I wouldn't try again for at least a week.

I prefer Colorsport- much less faff.

I've never had it come off again. It does sound as though your lashes weren't totally clean to start with. Or ... you did your forget to do the second step, the developer gel?

I use the eyelure and love it - did you have your mixture quantities right?

Anon22 · 04/09/2020 16:26

Review the instructions again?

Try watching this tutorial In the tutorial she says to use 3cm of dye, you probably only need to use 1cm though plus, appropriate amount of developer.

Clean your eyelids and lashes with a non-oily makeup remover. Don't put vaseline around your eyes to prevent staining, wipe up any transfer immediately with a wet cotton bud. If you get vaseline on your lashes it won't work.

Eyelure doesn't take well on my lashes, I use Refectocil instead.

Feedingthebirds1 · 04/09/2020 16:52

Eyelashes were super clean, no Vaseline (I could see that one not working well), used both steps and gave both parts maximum time. That's why I'm puzzled.

Thank you for the recommendations for others to try. Not having done this before, I bought the well known obvious one available in Boots.

Over lockdown I did my eyebrows using eyelure and was really pleased with it. I held out for a bit before doing my eyelashes but decided to go for it. I went for refectocil for my eyelashes because although the eyelure brow dye got good reviews, the eyelure lash dye reviews were really poor - a lot of people saying it didn't take so may not have been anything you did wrong.

I use refectocil too so maybe try that - very deep true black. Still trying to figure out the right processing time after a lash lift though!

Are you menstruating? My mum never could dye her hair when menstruating, it didn't take well. Could it be similar?

Feedingthebirds1 · 05/09/2020 12:58

rorosemary, thank you for the thought, but that is all behind me Grin

HelloChompy That's made me feel better, thank you!
