Plum dress - what blazer?

Hi all, just bought a plum dress to wear for work. We have to wear blazers when not in the classroom (teacher), and I want to try and move away from just defaulting to black all the time. Is there another colour combination that still looks professional? A quick google haa shown a woman with a bright pink blazer, but I don't know if that would suit me! I have very pale skin and auburn hair. Any ideas?

It sounds like you’re an autumn colouring, head over to Pinterest to see what colours work for autumns, most will go with plum.

It is not an easy colour to match! I would say if you want to play safe and stay smart, then go for a paler version of the same plum colour, for a fresh look - coral. I have a dress in this colour, and I have a pale silvery pink cardigan, but I am blonde. Stay away from browns and greens!

Navy!

Catladychaos · 03/09/2020 01:51

OMG go for green, any green if you're autumn colouring or navy may work. My all time fave is any shade of purple with any shade of green, yes they clash, but they work effing well (fashion educated)
Olive or ivy green would work great with plum though. Do not be afraid!

I’d go for a deep purple cardigan.

Steel Grey?

JustGiveMeTwoMinutes · 03/09/2020 02:20

I'd go for a pale minty green

Maybe just get some card paint swatches, and try them next to the dress - see which ones you like. You are the only one here who can see the exact shade of your plum dress and the only one who knows what you like and what suits you or what you are comfortable with. It is all very personal!

Go shopping with the dress, put a blazer against it in a shop and see for yourself. Your colour choice might be limited by what is available.

What about mustard?

Navy or a dark green ?
Black would clash and be too harsh but it does with most colours.

Navy or green or grey, I think plum is an easy colour to match.
No point getting a blazer to go with this one dress that doesn't go with your other clothes.

WindFlower92 · 03/09/2020 10:09

True @homemadecommunistrussia, but I'm having a bit of a reinvention of my wardrobe so I will be thinking about getting something that goes with other things! Thanks all, I think I'll have to be a bit brave with these colours! Will go out with the dress to see as this is really my first time with anything that's not black/white/red. Exciting!
