My face has suddenly turned dry

My skin is usually normal, no problem whatsoever. However over the last few days my face has turned dry. My eyelids and the corner of my eyes are sore and the rest of my face dry. I haven’t used anything different or changed my routine. For the last two days I haven’t used any makeup or used anything other than coconut oil. Has anybody experienced this or have any advice on what I could use.

Thank you

Autumn... my lips have done the same...

Extra moisturiser and it will be over quickly.... I think it’s the weather changing.

It’s the weather!

This happens to me at this time of the year, every year, without fail. My skin can’t handle the shifting seasons. This year has been particularly bad, we went from sun and 30 degree thunderstorms to freezing storms within a week or so!

If your eyelids get bad, you could try hydrocortisone cream. Otherwise drink lots of water and keep your skin as hydrated as you can. I layer moisturisers at night eg hyaluronic acid serum, moisturiser, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream (or a similar vaseline-like product). Make sure you’re using eye creams.

Have you been wearing the disposable face masks? I wore them a few times and they made my face so dry and sore. I'm only wearing the fabric ones now.

Actually I die a sheet mask last week I wonder if they was it.

If it’s due to the weather, should I to change my moisturiser? I normally use Nivea, I am 47 and never had this before, it’s ever so sore.

My skin was horrible after those disposable masks, I think the material is quite abrasive and just rubs against your skin. I've never had any problems with my face before but this was so sore and dry and I couldn't even wear make up for a while as it just caked and started peeling off. It was awful, but definitely due to the masks for me as it cleared up when I stopped using them.

Which fabric masks do you use ?

Are we talking about skincare masks or face coverings here? Grin

My skin started to break out after using face coverings, but around my chin/mouth/nose. The dryness is typical for me this time of year, I’m early 20s

Oh I thought you meant skincare facemasks!
