If you have well maintained hands/nails, do you enjoy having them done?

I'm generally a keep them short and clean, clear nail varnish for a special occasion kind of girl.

Today, I "treated" myself to a manicure ahead of the big return to work.

OMG, I thought it would never end. Who knew it was possible to spend so much time fussing over hands and nails? Do people really have this done weekly/fortnightly/monthly? Do people enjoy this "pampering"?

And TBH, apart from coloured nails, which don't suit me, I can't see any difference Grin

I won’t lie, painted nails kind of are the entire point of a manicure. What else did you think would happen?

Well there was a lot of faffing about with scrubs and paraffin wax etc, so I though that should have some effect?

I really enjoy doing my own nails. It’s therapeutic, looks nice when it’s done, and my snaggy flaky nails are protected.

I HATE having my nails done by other people. I’ve had them done three times in my life, they don’t look any better than when I do them, at least once my cuticles were nipped too closely, and the last time I went (it was a treat before I attended a wedding) she had clearly double booked me and rushed me through - was rough with my nails, didn’t have the colour I specifically booked her for (called to check in advance) and then forgot to topcoat one of my nails. It’s never relaxing and it’s such a disappointment.

I think your hands are meant to feel a little softer, but it’s not like a pedicure where they can really make a visible difference to the appearance of the skin. Your cuticles will be trimmed and your nails will be painted a colour that you may not have at home (if you choose well). That’s kind of it.

For a manicure I would expect cuticle tidy up and nails to be buffed to a shine as well as the scrub and stuff.

My nails usually look nice, I often get compliments on them but I very very rarely have a manicure, I just do it myself in front of the telly.
Don’t like being faffed with abd I dint think they look any better getting them professionally done

I go religiously every two weeks and have done for at least 10 years. My nails are always “done”. I hate every minute of the appointment, it’s tedious and boring. Listening to podcasts helps
