Help with dd’s hair

Soubriquet · 30/08/2020 06:23

Dd has unfortunately inherited my hair.
It’s awful to style.
Mine is quite thick but dd’s is still thin which means everytime I try to do something with it, hair always escapes and it looks a mess.

She’s only 7 so I don’t really want to put product in her hair but maybe I should?

She goes to school looking a mess because her hair is just so flyaway. Spraying with water helps but then as soon as it’s dry, that’s it, it’s gone.

She has quite wavy hair too.

Monoi coconut oil is free from chemical, so you might want to consider that.

Thank you. I’ll look into it

I wish I could french plait as someone did that to her hair once and it stayed but no matter how many tutorials I’ve watched I still can’t get the hang of it

Any chance another mum can teach you to do it?

Soubriquet · 30/08/2020 11:53

I wish. I don’t really know anyone where I live bar my next door neighbour.

I’ll try asking her but I doubt she knows. I’ve never seen her dd’s hair in french plaits

I did ask on fb once and my sister offered but we haven’t spoken in 18 months so..

This may be pedantic but can you Dutch braid it instead? For some reason I can't do French plaits but can do Dutch - maybe because it's easier in the mirror? You swap the hair over under the plait rather than over it.

I haven’t heard of that type...shall investigate. Thank you

My neighbour has shown me the french plait. Awkward in her hair but I’ve sort of got the gist of it

Yeah!! Good news about neighbour! Practice makes perfect.

Think there's some YouTube videos from some Yorkshire dads who taught themselves how to do girl hairstyles, might be worth a look
