Classic mid-range Handbags

I'm in the market for a new black smart handbag for day to day, work etc. Doesn't have to be huge as I don't have too much to cart around with me.

I love Mulberrys but they are way out of my price bracket, which is up to about £250. I'm looking for something classic, no fancy unnecessary bling, and a good quality leather that will last.

I had a look today and am quite taken with the Kate Spade Polly Flap crossbody, and the Radley Haven Street, both pictured below. Do any handbags aficionados have suggestions for the same style/price range I could look at? Thanks in advance 🙂

I really like Fossil and Coach.

The Kate Spade bag in your OP is gorgeous.

evilharpy · 29/08/2020 16:31

Is there anything in Russell & Bromley?

IloveJudgeJudy · 29/08/2020 16:40

Kate Spade rather than Radley. I like Aspinal bags, but only on sale Wink. I also really like Coach bags

Mrsmophead · 29/08/2020 16:44

Coach Prarie satchel. Live mine.

Girlyracer · 29/08/2020 16:45

Love Furla in the sale.

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/08/2020 16:47

From your pictures definitely the Kate Spade for me.

Have a look at Bell & Fox. Very lovely bags.

Agree with Aspinal or Russell and Bromley. Whistles and All Saints also do some nice leather bags. Coccinelle also do some lovely bags.

I’ve also been stalking the Edie bag from here www.carloelondon.com/shop (I like the idea of interchangeable straps) but not ordered yet!

HowFastIsTooFast · 29/08/2020 21:21

Oooh that's lovely @MooMinCow! It's my birthday in a few weeks so I've decided to spend that time researching and then request contributions from my parents and DP! Smile

I like the Kate Spade - looks more stylish.

GlassOfProsecco · 29/08/2020 22:13

Paul Costello - always good quality & good prices - you often get them in TK Maxx too for a bargain price

Ynwa1234 · 29/08/2020 22:20

Really like the kate spade one. I also have a coach bag very versatile in black.. Have a look on farfetch.com too

Ninkanink · 29/08/2020 22:32

Aurora London do very good quality and reasonably priced bags.

BringMeTea · 29/08/2020 22:36

Coccinelle make lovely bags.

I really like the Edie too, very lovely and still practical @MooMinCow.

SarahBellam · 30/08/2020 07:50

Mint Velvet do some lovely quite reasonable bags.

happytobemrsg · 30/08/2020 08:03

Love All Saints. I think plain black leather bags which don’t have any brand written on them, very little hardware etc look really expensive

Sparklytori · 30/08/2020 08:51

Are you anywhere near a kate spade outlet? I got a black cross body leather kate spade from gunwharf quays - very similar to what you have posted for £79!

I got a black crossbody Tory Burch for £199, check out the sale on The Outnet they've got some good bargains on their at the min.
Also Aspinal have an outlet section on their website

Ninkanink · 30/08/2020 13:15

All Saints is fantastic quality; prices are on the higher side for high street but if you buy in the sale/outlet it’s probably doable and you will get a really good bag.
