Go grey, highlight, or something else?

Help me with my hair!

Highlighted for decades. Grown out since January. My natural colour is dark ashy brown with a lot of greys.

I’m bored of highlights. They are always too warm for my liking.

I want an ‘interesting ‘ colour not a suburban one.

For context, I’m early 40s, can get away with any look I want because I live in Cornwall and don’t have a corporate style to adhere to anymore.

Feel like throwing it all to the wind and doing something unusual. Ideally something I can do myself. Not in a salon.

I love your highlights! Maybe cool the colour down with a purple shampoo. If you're brave enough you could have a few pink streaks near your face, or blue, depending on whether your skin is warm or cool.

You could also cut your hair into a layered, choppy bob that's shorter at the back and going to longer points at the front.

Henna? Colour depositing shampoo in a funky shade? Semi perm dye in a funky shade?
