Converse alternatives?

LetsDoItNow · 28/08/2020 23:50

For many years I've bought super cheap dupes of Converse shoes from Primark, New Look etc.

I decided to invest in a real pair but now that I have them I think they feel uncomfortable and the toe is quite 'pointy' instead of rounded. I'm not loving the shape so think I'll send them back.

Are there any alternatives that have a more rounded toe and bonus if they are comfy too!

Hello, I have had a few pairs off eBay and Amazon (brand new). Also Shoezone if you have one nearby?

RevolutionRadio · 29/08/2020 00:18

Vans aren't pointed

blibblibs · 29/08/2020 00:23

Superga, not pointy and very lovely. My favorite trainer.

latticechaos · 29/08/2020 00:25

Vans for me too. I found superga very heavy, although I think they look nice.

Are Vejas still a thing?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 29/08/2020 01:59

Sketchers. So comfy

Vans are lovely and generous at the toe. Superga are ridiculously heavy

Softpebbles · 29/08/2020 08:40

Superga here. A bit wider and lovely.

Michaelbaubles · 29/08/2020 08:42

Another Superga fan. I’m racking my brains to think what quizzl finds heavy about them - they’re similar weight to Converse but I find them more flexible with more space in the toe.

Rocket dog jazzin are ‘barefoot friendly’ I wear them as since lockdown I can’t contemplate putting my feet in narrow shoes.
I have two pairs and I love them.

I have superga and they are heavy! Compared to converse anyway. It's noticeable when I pick them up off the floor.

They are wider for sure though.

Superga

They have a thicker sole so feel a lot comfier than converse on.

paintmegood · 29/08/2020 09:23

I love Superga and Converse. I haven't found either uncomfortable or heavy although my leather converse rub a lot.

Thinkle · 29/08/2020 09:46

I’ve had both vans and Superga and prefer the latter from a style perspective. I have the flatform supergas so yes they are heavy to pick up but I’ve never noticed that when wearing them. There is something about the cut that seems to slim my fat ankles too

Another vote for superga , I definitely haven't found them heavy to wear , they are comfy , I think I will get a new colour for autumn actually.

carlywurky · 29/08/2020 11:13

Adidas Stan smiths. Wore a new pair yesterday and they are the first trainers in years which haven't rubbed or pinched in some way on first wear.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 29/08/2020 11:19

Are you sure it’s not just the style of that particular pair? My DD have (many) pairs of converse, and some do have a slightly pointier toe than others.

If you wanted to try on different pairs, TK Maxx normally have converse, and all our local stores allow you to try on shoes. They also seem to stock superga.
