Mascara recommendations...stop me looking like a panda!

Up until recently, I have only really worn mascara for a night out. I have started wearing it every day, especially when teamed with a face mask! The problem is, I find it smudges below my eyes after a couple of hours. I currently have a waterproof Revlon 'Ultimate All in One' Mascara.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a smudge proof mascara that won't break the bank? Thanks

My budget option for 5+ years was L’Oréal beauty extension tube mascara. Doesn’t budge. Comes off with warm water. I have ?oily eyelids, and eyeliner and mascara smudges so so easily, so I feel I am well qualified to recommend hah! Now I recommend the Kevyn aucoin tube mascara - more expensive, but lovely. I have also used a beauty pie one recently which is holding up pretty well, so if you are a member let me know and I will dig out the name.

Definitely a tubing mascara.
I use the No7 one in the gold tube

Acidrain · 28/08/2020 21:30

Benefit they're real best mascara ever!

AriesTheRam · 28/08/2020 21:48

I get the miniature of they're real by benefit. Its only a tenner and lasts ages

sleepwhenidie · 28/08/2020 21:52

Definitely go for a tube mascara. I love the Kevin Aucoin one but also want to try the new Hourglass one as I think the Caution one (along with most of the other make up) is fabulous. Not aware of any tube mascaras at lower price points but there must be some

missyB1 · 28/08/2020 21:57

What annoys me is you can’t seem to have a smudge proof one that also comes off easily. I bought the number 7 one in gold tube (definitely stays out), but bloody hell its a nightmare to remove!

DeeDimer · 28/08/2020 22:05

I've given up on mascara and had semi permanent lashes. Omg what a revelation!

frustrationcentral · 28/08/2020 22:17

I have the same issue! I've been wearing primark false lashes one recently and it's a bit better. I had maybeline before and it was rubbish!

StripyHorse · 28/08/2020 23:01

Thank you. I'll have a look at some of these. Was hoping not to go as expensive as Benefit, but a smaller tube might be ok.

@missyB1just hold a cotton pad or flannel/muslin soaked in warm water over your eye for 10 seconds. As you wipe it away, the mascara should literally slide off your lashes in little tubes with zero smudging.

I don’t love the brush on the No7 mascara myself so I’m going to try the L’Oréal one @Thedot90. Is it a plastic brush or a bristley one?

I also love the Kevyn Aucoin mascaras for a non budget version

YouStupidBoy · 29/08/2020 07:04

Clinique Lash Power doesn't budge all day and then comes off easily with warm water.

Scarlettstar86 · 29/08/2020 07:23

I also recommend Kevyn Aucoin. It's a similar price to Benefit. I used Benefit mascara for years. I have tried the different ones they do. Although they were really good in terms of volume my eyelids are that greasy I always had smudging on my top lids. The Kevyn Aucoin just doesn't do this. Other than that have you tried a lash lift and tint? I had one done last week and the results were brilliant. I haven't needed to wear mascara for a week so far.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/08/2020 07:33

I’m prone to this, I use a Barry m mascara primer & dust a bit of powder over my eyes before I start.

MrDarcysMa · 29/08/2020 08:14

Benefit smudges really bad on me then because it's waterproof can't just wipe it off.

You need a tubing mascara. Soak in warm water to remove it.
Maybelinne snapscara
No 7 stay perfect
NYX Doll eye

The maybelinne is the best for volume imo but I find the no 7 one nicer to use and beater to apply. The L'Oréal beauty tunes one imo is very messy to use but looks very dramatic if that's whah you're after!

Lexilooo · 29/08/2020 08:35

I'd recommend Max Factor mascara. Brilliant value for money, doesn't smudge but makes your lashes look huge, people have been surprised mine are real.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 29/08/2020 08:37

Rodial xxl glamorlash. I first received it free in a magazine but it’s the best mascara I’ve every used. Although have just ordered the new Charlotte tilbury one to give a try and see what it’s like.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 29/08/2020 08:41

Another vote for the No. 7 gold tube one. I dont bother with my lower lashes though.

namitynamechange · 29/08/2020 13:28

Another vote for benefit they're real as well! I had actually given up on mascara but got a small tube of benefit free with some other stuff so gave it a go and its the only one that doesnt flake down my face (and I rub my eyes a lot whilst working, plus my eyelashes rub against my glasses I think)

Wildwood6 · 29/08/2020 14:21

Definitely try a tubing mascara, another vote here for the Kevin Aucoin one here, I’ve tried and few and it’s my favourite.

Lucked · 29/08/2020 14:41

This eyeco mascara works brilliantly for me and I have struggled with this.

Confused73 · 29/08/2020 16:56

Get your eyelashes tinted and don't bother with mascara again. It's an absolute game-changer and my once per month treat to myself.

Anewmum2018 · 29/08/2020 17:11

Estée Lauder double wear!

StripyHorse · 29/08/2020 20:13

Thank you, so many suggestions! I will have a look and see what is on offer 😃 It doesn't have to be dramatic... just not panda!

L'Oréal Paradise mascara. It's a tubing mascara - only shifts with warm water (I use a muslin cloth.

It's brilliant. Full lashes, great brush and doesn't smudge at a good price point. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Other one I love is Hourglass Caution but it's twice the price and in all honesty not twice as good (pretty much the same tbh) as such I've switched to the L'Oréal one given how quickly I get through mascara (and I can pick it up at the supermarket).

MikeUniformMike · 29/08/2020 20:24

There's a primark tubing one that's meant to be good.

I find waterproof tends to flake off after a few hours even if it is £££.
